Convertible car seats. At what point do you face them forward?

I am bringing this posting back because of inacurate information that has been given.
I have called both the Town of Hempstead Public Safety and the Village oc Hempstead Police Department. I did this since one of the posters improperly identified where she got a seat checked as well as that she was given permission to turn the child around.
Neither location has any one with the rank of captain. Neither have woman secretaries making appointments. In fact the Village of Hempstead Police Department do not have anyone certified to do safety seat checks. As a result, the Hempstead Polcie Department does not do safety checks.
In speaking with the Town of Hempstead Public Safety not one of the techs, when asked, says that turning a child around before one is proper.
Even if someone did give information incoreectly, or do an improper installation, such a posting is dangerous.
The long and short of iit is --- DO NOT TURN A CHILD FORWARD FACING BEFORE A YEAR!

We switched both of our children around at the 1 year and 20 lb mark.

Such a relief to hear, that was truly scary and made me wonder how "safe" the safety checks are. Thank you for posting!
