cost of 1st birthday cake?
Those who don't mind sharing, what did you spend on your chilld's 1st birthday cake? if you have pics to include, i'd love to see. i got a price on a cake today and i thought i was going to fall off my chair but now i'm wondering if its the norm out there

It definitely isn't cheap, DH almost had a heart attack, but it is actually a good price and kind of what I was expecting. This is a cake I found online and am having replicated. She is charging me $140.... Shoot me an FM if you would like the lady's info.  Image Attachment(s):

just a simple sheet cake from costco. under $20. I think my grandma had a clown or plane on the cake.
fed ALOT of people.

Same here-but from BJs and they did a digital image of the theme on it.
Not for a 1st birthday party, but for DD's 3rd and only "big" birthday party.

This cake was $75. I wasn't impressed with the design at all, kind of disappointed, but it tasted great from an awesome bakery.

$150 fed 30 people
the lady who made it works from her home, I was quoted from a reputable bakery $300 for something like this.

I got DD's at costco for under $20. It was huge and delicious!
Not fancy - but you can pick what icing design you want and have her name on it.

My 1st DD's cake was tinkerbelll themed (I will post a pic later) and was $295 from Audrey's bakery. I don't know what I was thinking but I waited until last minute so I think that was part of the problem. DD#2's 1st B-day cake w ill cost me $150.00.

My DS bday is June 3. We wanted a Timmy Time theme. A friend of my BIL makes custom cakes. She is making us a 3 tiered cake with all of the characters for $250. I think I am nuts for spending this for a cake, but it was something that I really wanted to do. I will post pics from the party and let you know if it was really worth it. Oh, it is supposed to feed 50 people.

$100 for a 3 tier cake to feed 50 people. And it was DELICIOUS!
PS: I wrapped a box in wrapping paper as the base for the cake

I think we paid like 19 dollars at costco! I don't have a picture right now, but I must say it was pretty and delicious. It also fed 60 people!!!!!

i paid like 20 at sams club for an incredible cupcake cake. i got 2 one elmo and one with a photo of my ds with ears on that said did you hear who just turned one! they were delicious and amazing to look at!

I made it myself.
$19.99 for an extra set of Pyrex glass bowls
$9.99 for the stars mold.
flour, levening ingrediest, eggs, butter, milk, sugar, vanilla extract I always have on hand.
about $15 in white and dark chocolate (the good stuff!)
I used the Pyrex bowls to make the shape of "planets" and the star molds to make the stars. I covered everything with extremely easy to make and delicious chocolate ganache (white chocolate colored yellow with food coloring for the stars)
his theme was Le Petit Prince.
I actually got so much satisfaction from making it...moreso than I would have imagined. I felt more connected to it...so much so that I hope to make him his birthday cake until he gets married. and maybe after
