cost to skim coat plaster walls?
Hi,
Has anyone ever had their plaster walls skimcoated? If so, how much did it cost and would you recommend your person?
We have a few cracks in some walls, but mostly the last owners were really sloppy and clearly just slapped on paint without cleaning the walls beforehand. Some spots are smooth and many are rough. Would you skimcoat for something like this, or is there an alternative--like using sandpaper or something? Sorry if this is a dumb question--I just don't have a clue.

My mom's quote was so high that she opted to pull the walls down and put up sheetrock
But that quote was for an entire first floor, how large of a space are you looking at?

we had our den walls skimcoated for about $800. Honestly, we should have had them re sheetrocked this way we could have redone the insulation...

honestly not sure. i'm thinking the walls around our staircase and maybe two-three rooms. from what i've researched it sounds like it's going to cost a fortune. yikes.

We got a very high quote for our entire house. We said no to much of it, except a few rooms. Maybe it was $3000 for the entire house?
