Bigger question, you know how people have left states because of restrictions like ny and ca? Will the opposite happen like people who don’t think there are enough restrictions will they seek out states that have more? It’s a serious question.

No. They can just stay home or choose to do things they are comfortable with.

Plus most national retailers are still following guidelines.

If you want less restrictions you can’t simply walk around without a mask. Or host a sweet 16 at a restaurant. You have no choice, your hands are tied. But if you feel there aren’t enough restrictions you have options....stay home, celebrate virtually, order takeout, avoid crowded places, etc....

But now they are saying if you are vaccinated you won’t have to wear a mask.

If you are with others who are also vaccinated...

Meanwhile your “vaccine papers” are only good for 3 months to attend concerts or to travel. Which is it? 3 months or no time limit?

So what happens after 3 months? You have to get vaccinated again?
Or you just can't go to concerts anymore? Like, sorry! You missed your window!

In NY, you have to go back to providing negative tests and /or quarantining

It's only good for 90 days to get you out of quarantining when you travel.
That much I know.
Concerts aren't even really a thing yet so not sure on that. But I did hear about the travel thing. After 90 days you have to go back to quarantining/testing when you return.

On Wednesday, March 3, 2021, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that domestic travelers to New York State who have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 will no longer be required to quarantine or be tested upon arrival in the 90 days following their full vaccination

Yep and how can this be done without violating Hippa laws?

No idea about HIPPA. My company had told us that if we test positive for Covid we have to tell HR. My question was, I'm home, all offices are closed, we are not allowed out at all, so why do I have to tell you my health information? There is no reason for them to know if I test positive. Its not like I'm in an office and could infect others.
They make a big deal about HIPPA all the time, but now it's out the window?

Exactly. No one can legally ask you about your health and you have to make sure you are on lists now or the doctors won’t even speak to you about someone and their condition.

Everyday the things the CDC comes up with are not thought through very well.

An employer isn't a covered entity. Only covered entities are covered and restricted by HIPPA.
Employers can't ask you other health related questions do to other rules but it's outside of HIPPA

Re: Cuomo loosening up Restrictions

HIPAA laws don't apply to stores and other non-medical venues.

https://www.wsj.com/articles/hipaa-wont-stop-stores-asking-about-your-health-11592152890

A June 3 letter suggests that conditioning access to shops or malls on presenting negative Covid-19 results is somehow a violation of the privacy provisions of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, commonly known as HIPAA. This is legally incorrect. HIPAA only applies to “covered entities,” which consist of certain health-care providers, health plans (e.g., health insurers, Medicare) and health-care clearinghouses. HIPAA also applies to a covered entity’s business associates, e.g., those providing certain services to the covered entity. It does not apply to individuals, who are always free to reveal to anyone their health information, nor does it prevent a store owner, nursing home, theme park or restaurateur from requesting Covid-19 information as a condition of admission. Other laws, however, may come into play here, but not HIPAA.

Right now the card is only good for 3 months. But it's likely they will extend the time period as more people become vaccinated.

I despise masks and would burn mine tonight if I could. But I do not understand the new “guidance” about vaccinated people being together without masks. Are they saying that vaccinated people cannot get or spread covid? And if so, then why can’t a vaccinated person be with an unvaccinated person?

In a nutshell, HIPPA only applies to entities who do electronic medical billing. That law has been bastardized to prevent anyone from saying anything about any health related issue.

Me too. It’s ok for vaccinated folks to spread it to each other. Chat Icon

It is not the case that no one can legally ask you about your health. Otherwise all of those apps for school and other entities would be optional, and we would likely be in much worse shape re: spread and variants than we are in now. And it sounds like in public health crises where individual choices affect the greater good, there is even more leeway to require certain information. There has to be. Can you imagine how this country would handle an even more infectious and lethal pandemic, like ebola?
