I'd much rather never see another white cop again in my life. Don't trust a single one.
That's a pretty disgusting thing to say. It reminds me of my (dead) racist grandmother telling me not to trust black people. You are a bigger part of the problem than you realize.

Or maybe it's also that 164 Black men and women were killed by police from January 1 to August 31, 2020. I think your percentage of "good cops" is way off.
Considering you don't specify how many of those shootings were justified or accidental this number doesn't really mean anything but even still, there are over 800,000 law enforcement personnel nationwide. Do some math and you will see that my number is not "way off." If you honestly think most cops are bad and the whole system is broken, don't use it next time you have an emergency.
I never said most cops are bad and the whole system is broken. I said your percentage of 99.9% was off.
Yes, you said it based on 164 people shot. Do some basic math. there are 800,000 cops nationwide. How many do you think are bad cops? Also what's your criteria for bad cops? 99.9795 were not involved in shootings of black people. And from your article it seems like most of those shooting were justified.
Then what are those 99.9795% of officers doing to combat the "bad apples" that spoil the bunch? What kind of police reform is going to occur? If they are not actively working within their ranks to weed out racists and retrain and reform their actions, then I don't really care. If you're not part of the solution you're part of the problem.
If you don't think that police reform is happening nationwide you are living under a rock.
NYC Police Reform
Real reform. Not this ******** and certainly not what they consider reform in suffolk county. Law enforcement - the entirety of the institution and practice - is racist, period. You might not like to hear it but oh well. I don't believe in hero worship. I'd much rather never see another white cop again in my life. Don't trust a single one.
Did you REALLY say that with a straight face?

Racial prejudice is not the same as racism. You racial prejudice but is not considered racism because of the systemic relationship to power. White people don't get to cry "racism" or reverse racism. The system isn't' and never was stacked against you.

I read.A LOT. I have read a great deal of “anti-racist” literature including many articles/books that have been suggested on these threads. The difference is that I do not agree with the very basic foundation of the arguments presented in the writings so the entire argument is invalid in my opinion. This is not a hard science. Remember that before you tell someone to educate herself.

I wouldn't even bother. If you read her posts on here she is clearly a racist piece of garbage. She seems to believe that white people are at the same exact disadvantage as black people and if that is truly what she believes, then she is as vile and disgusting as Derek Chauvin and there is no reasoning with somebody so pitiful.

Nope. I just don’t buy into identity politics because I have more than two functional brain cells and refuse to be a white apologist. I also believe black people have agency and have more control over their lives than all of you “free thinkers” believe.

Race plays a role in people having the cards stacked against them, totally see that. What do you think about class? Poor, middle class, wealthy? Does that play a role in a person’s privilege? If I am a middle class poc vs a poor white, who has more privilege? I am serious with these questions. This board seems to have many posters that read up on this topic so That is why I am asking.

Those are really good questions. I have often thought of this myself. I absolutely think a wealthy person, no matter their race or ethnic background, has a form of privilege. For me, white privilege doesn't mean that you live in a mansion, drive a luxury car, and go to Europe every year. People who can afford to do those things are absolutely privileged in their own right. White privilege does not mean that as a white person you don't face hardships or you don't struggle financially. It just means that any roadblocks you have ever faced in life or any hardships that you have had to overcome were not a direct result of your skin color.

Just putting "anti-racist" in quotes shows a lack of understanding about the fundamental differences between systematic racism and racial prejudices. Another poster linked information to a hate group and tried to pass it off to me as informational so I'm not sure I would agree with the slant of your readings. It seems through your postings that you don't believe racism exists. Because of that, there is no reason to carry on this conversation.

Of course racism exists. And we have a lot of work to do as a nation. I just don’t believe in the systemic, oppressive system fantasy that people like to portray the United States. We are the greatest country in the world with POC who are the highest earners in the world. This is literally the least racist nation on earth. And if you don’t believe or know that you either don’t own a passport or don’t read.

Well wow this blew up and of course the racist card was used as it seems when people have nothing mature and debatable to say you are a racist. Funny how these people are all actually white calling you a racist. You would think it would be the opposite.

How we compare to other countries in the world is totally irrelevant to the conversation at hand.
Even if it wasn't, it's apples to oranges anyway. Every country has its own unique historical context to the way it has treated people of color, and its own systems of oppression against different groups.
Also, you have to look at the distribution of wealth. The US has the world's highest GDP, which might make it appear that BIPOC are the highest earners in the world, but when you look at their share of the wealth the US actually has one of the greatest gaps in the the world. With a lower share of wages and wealth, BIPOC in the US are further behind their fellow citizens than BIPOC in other countries because of how much systemic racism we have.
If you really have read a decent selection of books and articles about this subject and still do not believe in systemic oppression then you were never going to believe it no matter what people said - because the facts are there - and you are lacking in empathy and dismissing the experiences of people of color.

Somehow a 13 year old is shot dead by cops in Chicago after he put his hands up but Kyle Rittenhouse crossed state lines at 17 and came with an AR 15, killed two people, and was given water by police.
He also has received numerous donations from officers and politicians around the country. Donations pouring in. Calling him a hero.
Lots to unpack here and more reasons why people are distrustful of police/officials.
The teen in Chicago was running around with a 21 year old at 2:30 in the morning with a gun. Did everyone miss this?
Did you miss a 17 year old that crossed state lines with an AR 15 to act as a vigilante and shot two people and was given water by police?
The one whose mother drove him over state lines, who is a white vigilante who encourages racial violence.
Never said he was innocent either and another story of parents who have not done their job.
Also another story of a cop not doing their job.
I still want to know why they ever even allowed him to continue If it was POC walking right by cops with an AR 15 you really think they would have let him just walk by?? Personally I don’t. A POC would have been stopped with guns probably drawn on him!!

Sounds like multiple issues. First parenting and then what went on with the cops.
