Daycare Moms...Irrational concerns or totally normal?

I was crying to DH tonight thinking of dropping my DS off at daycare for the first time on the 18th.

All I can think of is, here is this 12 week old who has somewhat of a routine with mommy all day long.. now he is thrown into a new environment with total and complete strangers.

I just keep thinking for the first few weeks hes going to be very confused and upset and wondering where I went and what is happening to him!!!!

I know in the long run he will be fine.. (i hope) but until he gets used to it I feel soooooo horrible!!!! thinking he is going to be soooo confused!!!

hes going to be FINE!!!!!!! Totally normal concerns by the way. Its so so so hard, and I cried A LOT. Everyone adjusts now, and not that I want to leave DS every morning, but 2 years later, its just another part of the morning routine! Its going to be tough, I wont lie, but I promise it gets SOOO much easier. Its def harder on the moms than the kids~

your feelings are totally normal! and be assured that what you fear is A LOT worse than the reality. your DS will only be 12 weeks old and in some ways that is better than him being a lot older where he'll really be looking for you! at 12 wks he is a lot more pliable and will adapt much faster! he won't know if he's away from you for 7 hours or 1 hour. i just started my DS in daycare at almost 6 months-i feared the very very worst. i was freaking out about what you are worried about. it actually turned out to be ok b.c i think he is so young too that he has no clue you know? i put my DD in daycare at 15 months and the first month was a nightmare! Chat Icon b/c she was so set in her ways and only used to me. the screaming that happened when i dropped her off was enough to break your heart. so i found it much easier this time with a younger child!
good luck! and i promise you it will be ok!Chat Icon

I started DD last week, when she turned 12 weeks! I was an emotional wreck! I didnt want her to feel like I abandoned her. Well its been a week now and I'm told that she smiles a lot at daycare and naps a lot. I think in the end it is much harder for us than it is them! I'm just glad she is still smiling at me when I get home! Chat Icon

totally normal! i sent DS to daycare at 11 weeks. we had a great schedule going and they enforced everything i already had set. he even slept better cause he was so exhausted from all the activity they had him do.
