DC wants NOTHING to do with solid food
He is 11 months and is not interested at all in solid food.
I tried Cheerios again today. The minute it touches his tongue he gags as a reflex.
Granted we did not start food before he was 6.5 months.
I know he will eat "eventually".
Anyone have a late "eater"?

Re: DC wants NOTHING to do with solid food
Not a "late" eater, but definitely "selective". One day DD likes it, the other day she wants nothing to do with it. I got so frustrated in the beginning, but now I'm like, ok, you don't want it...you don't eat. If she's hungry, she'll let me know.
I can't worry anymore

Re: DC wants NOTHING to do with solid food
Have you tried thickening the purees?? Little by little add a little bit of cereal to thicken it up to get him used to the thicker consistency..Then you keep it a little junky etc. Pic a favorite food that you know he likes the flavor of and it'll be easier to get him used to the texture.

Have you tried any stage 3 baby foods? They typically have small pasta within the puree which might help. Also, try pastina mixed with ricotta cheese. Again, it has a puree consistancy with some chunks in it. Or mix chicken in mashed potatoes.

No stage 3. I was thinking to go from stage 2 to regular food.
Maybe I will get some stage 3 for him so he can transition.
Thanks!

Joseph was a major gagger, but did get the hang of it. We started food (baby food too) at 8 months & I think that caused most of the issues.

it doesn't have to be stage 3 from a jar, you can mimic any of that stuff with real food. But just try to play with the consistancy. Mix chunkier food into something soft and he'll get the hang of it.
Good luck!!!

Yes, I will cook some food and leave "chunkier" pieces in it.
Thanks!
