Decorating ideas... thoughts
We are redoing the first floor... eventually. Anyone who lives with a contractor understands that my house is last. LOL
We picked out off white cabinets for our kitchen. For our great room, which you can see from the kitchen, DH will be making a large entertainment center built in. We'd do that in white and on the other side a bar probably cherry cabinets. Only thing is would it look ok if the kitchen cabinets are a drop off white and the entertainment center is done white?

Decorating ideas... thoughts
I'm sort of going through the same thing right now - I am in the process of starting to re-do my kitchen, and am thinking I will do white cabinets with the island either navy blue or black. My dining room table and buffet are off-white, so I am a little concerned about the white/off-white thing - but I think I am going to stick with white for my kitchen. My kitchen is next to my dining room, but the cabinets and dining room furniture won't be next to each other at all. And the way the rooms are layed out, you only see into both rooms as you're entering the kitchen - if you're actually in the kitchen, you cannot see into the dining room at all. I've asked a few people (whose taste I trust lol) what they think about it too, and they have all said they don't think it's an issue at all

Thank you! I think it would look nice too. The kitchen is all open and can see the entertainment center in the great room from it, but the style will be a bit different. So much to think about and can't go dark for entertainment center bc I like the white, clean look and the floors are dark wood vinyl.

In general I use the rule of three when decorating. A main solid color, an accent color or texture, and a pattern. I would worry that the off white will look dirty if you see it right next to the white, if it were separated by a wall, you could do it, but not if it is right next to it.

I would paint the entertainment center a creamier white to match better with the Kitchen the being that it’s open. The kitchen cabinets will come off as yellow/dingy.
All of the moulding in my house is painted linen white and my cabinets look great next to all the trim.
When picking my backsplash I kept trying for a white and my cabinets looked like smokers lived there. So I had to replan my design for that and pick a color that helped them look more white without being bright white

I had an off white table in my white kitchen and to me it looked awful. I would do everything all one color. Are you married to the off white cabinets? Personally I like white cabinets in a kitchen over off white or ivory.
