Need your thoughts/ideas
DH and I bought a house. I have a close friend who does construction. He has basically taken on the role of getting everything done for us. He tore down a closet, is building us a new one, is helping with demo and remodel of a half bath, has connected us with a painter and floor guy (low prices because he's been handling everything for us), has been going to the house when we can't get there (he has a key), took DH to Home Depot to get supplies, and borrowed a pickup from a friend to transport the materials they bought at Home Depot.
Basically, he has been doing massive work for us. He won't let us pay him. We HAVE to do something for him because we are just floored by the work he is putting in. How do we repay him? I'm looking for any ideas you may have. Taking him and his girlfriend out to dinner is not nearly enough, and we don't know what to do. Thoughts??

Need your thoughts/ideas
Maybe a gift certificate for a weekend away - someplace like Montauk or maybe for a nice B&B upstate

I think this is a great idea, assuming they like to go away.
When DH and I got married - we got both sets of our parents a gift card from a bed and breakfast website that could be used at any participating B & B in the U.S. (and there were a LOT of really nice ones, so it wasn't limited at all). This was in 2006, so I can't remember the name of the site. It may have been:
www.bedandbreakfast.com
I think my parents used theirs in Newport, RI one summer and were really happy with the experience at the B & B they chose. I recall that the gift cards don't expire, and it's ideal, because then your friends can decide when and where they want to go.
Also, is your friend just starting out or looking to grow his business? If so, maybe you can offer something in connection with that? Pay for him to be a vendor on LIF? I know this site has been a wonderful source of business for me! Or run an ad in a local publication? Get him new business cards? And of course, recommend him to everyone you know!
