Details emerge in Cobb Co. Georgia toddler death investigation
COBB COUNTY, Ga, - FOX 5 News has learned new details in the case of a father facing charges after his young son died in a hot car.
Justin Ross Harris is accused of leaving his son, Cooper Harris, alone in the car while he went to work at the Home Depot corporate office for "roughly seven hours." Harris is now charged with Felony Murder and Cruelty to Child in the second degree. Harris is being held in the Cobb County Detention Center without bond.
According to a warrant obtained by FOX 5 News, investigators say that Harris placed Cooper in his "rear facing car seat" after eating breakfast at the Vinings Chick-fil-A restaurant on June 18. Harris then drove to work and entered his workplace -- leaving the child in the car.
The warrant states Harris went to his vehicle during lunch to place an object inside of it, again returning to work -- leaving the child alone in the car, a second time.
FOX 5 I-Team reporter Randy Travis reports investigators seized Ross Harris' work computer from Home Depot after his arrest last week. In the search history on that computer, a law enforcement source tells the FOX 5 I-Team someone searched for information on how long it takes for an animal to die in a hot car.
The FOX 5 I-Team has not been able to confirm when that Internet search was conducted.
According to Cobb County police, Harris originally told officers that he forgot to drop off his son at daycare, leaving him in the car all day while Harris was working. Harris told police he discovered his son dead as he drove home from work that afternoon.
Last week, sources close to the investigation told FOX 5 reporter Kaitlyn Pratt "this is just the tip of the iceberg. There's more than what meets the eye."
“When the officers arrived on the scene, they had started that process (CPR) themselves but it was quickly decided the child was already deceased and had been for quite some time," Sergeant Dana Pierce of the Cobb County PD told FOX 5 News.
The Cobb County Office of the Medical Examiner has not yet released the autopsy report in this case.
Cooper Harris will be buried in a private family ceremony in Tuscaloosa on Saturday.

My stomach just turned reading about the computer search. I really hope that he did not leave that child on purpose. I can not fathom the level of evil it would take to do that to a little boy like that.

He went back to the car to check if his son was dead on his lunch break!!! I CAN'T even deal right now. This guys needs to be murdered!

I'm in tears right now. Look at that face, that innocent beauitful face. Why would anyone want to hurt something so precious like that. WHY???
My heart goes out to his family.

that's exactly what I think too- and the worst part is that the poor child suffered all those hours.

There seriously has to be something disturbingly wrong with a human being who can harm their own child.
Their OWN child.
I mean, I would DIE for my child. I'd kill for her.
How can you possibly harm your own flesh and blood?
It's incomprehensible.
I hope to God they are wrong, because if they aren't I don't want to be a member of this society anymore.

Not just harm them, but put them through a slow, horrible death. How does someone do a search to see how long their child will have to suffer before they die? There are no words.

I. Just. Can't. I truly wanted to believe that this was an horrific and tragic accident, even though it is something that I cannot possibly fathom doing myself. But I should know better than to have faith in the human race. My stomach hurts.

this is the worst part.... That poor little boy was scared and he SUFFERED. That's what truly sickening about it.
