Ok my DH has very weird taste.. We agrue all the time about decorating.. I had to really bite my tounge about an antique painting he just brought home from Chicago and these two lamps.. Please give me your honest opinion.. I have to live with them I think but now my drean nursery has turned into a horror.. (its not THAT bad) But i really do not care for it.. It is his child and his house also so I cant be so controling.. But I do not think the painting goes and I am not crazy about these feathers on the Lamps!!!! Chat Icon

first off - i'm soooooooooooo angry that i didn't ask to see the nursery on Sunday....Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

i personally LOVE the feathers - i'm a HUGE fluffy/feathery/sparkley girl though...i STILL have my bachelorette boas from my party - i LOVE them!!!!!!!!!!

The painting - it's not horrible - but i don't LOVE it....

can we maybe get an agreement and have it in the hallway leading to her room or in a corner as opposed to somewhere more LOUD & PROUD????

Re: DH is wrecking my nursery!!!! I think?

The painting is cute. I'd do one lamp on the top of that taller shelf unit, off to one side. The two on the one dresser is a bit much.

ITA. How about you two meet half way.. the lamps stay in the nursery and the painting goes into the hall closet?

Can you use just ONE of the lamps? I feel like 2 may be overkill. The picture doesn't really match the nursery, maybe you could convince DH to hang it somewhere else?

OOOOOOOOOOOOO Diana Chat Icon I'm sorry Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon OK me personally, I could live with the painting, just put it on a wall that's not the first thing you see when you walk in the room Chat Icon But those lamps, oyyyyy where to begin... Is there any chance you can de-feather them? The shade looks ok actually it's the feathers that are making me think he's going for a "bordello" themed nursery Chat Icon
BUT I have to say kudos to hubby for being interested, right?????

If you think it would work, why not tell him that the feathers are a safety hazard, (which they really will be once baby's walking around!!!)

Best of luck to you, I LOVE LOVE LOVE your furniture and wall color though!!!!

Re: DH is wrecking my nursery!!!! I think?

Oh God you should hear him about this stupid painting.. He is DEMANDING it stays.. Maybe he can paint the frame white. I can try to convince him but I really hate the picture itself.. I wish there was only one lamp but he refuses to send one back!!!! Ok I am putting one on the dresser and one on the book shelf tell me what you think

I'm *also* wondering - is that dresser going to be used as the changing table too? If so, then I'd absolutely NOT have the feather lamps there, the baby will be pulling and reaching for those like crazy!!!

Re: DH is wrecking my nursery!!!! I think?

I'm sorry but you can tell him I said that painting is EWWW. A bit too old fashioned for that room. The lamps...well not my style, nor yours either, BUT, if you hid them somewhere on a back part of the dresser for NOW Chat Icon , you can always remove them as a child safety hazard later on Chat Icon

Re: DH is wrecking my nursery!!!! I think?

I really think only one lamp. 2 looks like too much. Regarding the painting, I think it would be much nicer to have one of you and you're DC. It's a little strange to put a painting of 2 people you don't even know in her room- JMO though.

This just made me LOL because that was pretty much my reaction when I saw the painting. I'm sorry...

The lamps aren't bad in my opinion. Like the others have said, they may look better separated.

Re: DH is wrecking my nursery!!!! I think?

I like the lamps. The painting has to go. I already told DH that the nursery is my domain, since if it was up to him it would be ALL yankee's or jets , neither of which is acceptable.

That painting is CREEPY. I wouldn't put it in my kids room.

The lamps aren't that bad. Is there any way you could take the feathers off without ruining the lamp shades?

Re: DH is wrecking my nursery!!!! I think?

this is the dh talking, and directed to those who have given their opine. ok, dig it, the lamps are """shabby chic """" a term I hate but she loves saying, to me their just cool. they match up perfectly. the whole rose color thing which i never really liked. now the painting, EVERYONE, is a style which i'm not sure what it is, but its a style that evokes a 50 ish photo, i say its different not creepy, last thing i want to see in their is a little princess with pixie dust around her type painting. I want my daughter to grow up not saying why, but, why not. ok gotta go wifey is getting out of bathroom, dont tell her I wrote this, lata
