this is the dh talking, and directed to those who have given their opine. ok, dig it, the lamps are """shabby chic """" a term I hate but she loves saying, to me their just cool. they match up perfectly. the whole rose color thing which i never really liked. now the painting, EVERYONE, is a style which i'm not sure what it is, but its a style that evokes a 50 ish photo, i say its different not creepy, last thing i want to see in their is a little princess with pixie dust around her type painting. I want my daughter to grow up not saying why, but, why not. ok gotta go wifey is getting out of bathroom, dont tell her I wrote this, lata

OMG, I love that painting!!! Maybe not for a babys room, but its fantastic! My mom always buys strange and beautiful paintings are garage sales, she puts them around the house, they are gorgeous!!!

HE IS NUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.. So when he got home last night I said i just want you to read the what my girls on LIF are posting about your painting and lamps.. And I cant believe he posted this .. He make me PIMP!!! But I have to say thank you!!! TO ALL OF YOU!!!!!! One lamp is gone in the attic for storage and the picture he is going to distress the frame in white and we can see what to do with is .... I LOVE YOU GUYS SO MUCH!!!!!! 
Did you read his defense abut the painting " 50 ish style"  In a """ shabby chic""" room!!!!

the lamps are cute - i dont' mind them at all but i can understand the pic
the room is more vintage modern to me with the vintage furniture and the stencils on the closet doors...nice touch!
the pic is not for that room
i do like it alot though
as racheeeee mentioned, our mom has lots of vintage portraits of strangers in the house
shabby chic is generally paler colors - lots of whites. the pic is more shabby if it had a distressed white frame
could see it in a hallway or somewhere else
you just posted like 2 min before me
have him distress the frame and get back to me!

Me, I would toss the lamps and the picture and tell DH too bad. How is that any worse that him bringing home kooky items and forcing them on you? Let HIM get over it.
I would never buy something that I knew DH may not like without consulting him.

Can you use just ONE of the lamps? I feel like 2 may be overkill. The picture doesn't really match the nursery, maybe you could convince DH to hang it somewhere else?

I like the lamps minus the feathers.
I absolutley LOVE LOVE LOVe the room. I love everything about it, bedding set, crib bedding, paint etc. I feel like this is taking away the elegance and classiness of it. JMHO!
LOVE your DH though!

maybe once the nursery is filled and the frame is distressed enough - it will all work together....maybe he can distress a red frame - to make it blend more - since once distressed the frame wont' have a whole lot of red LEFT....????

Jess is he too funny or what!! I was dying when I read his post!!! He has his own crazy taste and he cant be reasoned with.. But my Mother has always tried to teach me to pick my fights wisely.. In the scheme of things I have to put this in perspective.. KWIM.. He really does alot of crazy things around here (who do you think picked those crazy masks on the sides of the TV ) Although they are not bad I wouldhave never picked them out..

i really liked the decor in your house though (i even told you that).....that may be why i was less 'harsh' (not that anyone was REALLY harsh - but you know what i mean)....because the BIG PICTURE of the room will be gorgeous, once it's ALL done....
He did a fantastic job on the rest of your home - so maybe let's wait it out and see it all come together???
I was laughing just because i could SO see his face while typing it!

I really like the lamps- I think they're pretty cool actually- and I could totally see your DD having them in her room as she grows up on either side of her bed...
