DH thinks "he's sick, having a growth spurt, teething or something like that"
Thanks DH
Oh boy, here we go again! DS is 5 months and we thought we were getting somewhere with his sleeping. For a few nights he was only getting up once to feed and a couple of times for the binky.
The last two nights in a row I was up practically every hour and sometimes he wouldn't stop unless I gave him the boob.
What gives?? I don't think he's sick. He is starting to teethe and has been crankier lately. Just when I feel like my sleep is starting to get back to "normal" this happens.
Any ideas what is going on here? Please tell me it is just a phase...cause honestly I don't know how much of this I can take. Today I am walking around like a zombie

Oh man! My DD just had the WORST weekend ever. Crying and screaming non stop. Friday night was horrible- up every half an hour crying and screaming. I even posted on here asking if it could be teething.
Maybe it's the start of teething?
Either that or there was something in the air this weekend!

Oh Nell, I am so sorry. DS wasn't screaming (okay maybe once but the events of the evening are a bit blurry) and at least nursing him would quiet him down for the time being. I hope it is just teething and that it will stop for the both of us
DH was saying I should stay home today and I told him going to work would be much easier on me

Yes! Going to work today gave me a break from the screaming and fussing! Daycare is earning their money today I am sure!

Has he recently had any milestones? Rolling from front to back/back to front? Sitting up?
A lot of times when they reach a milestone, their sleep is disrupted.
Don't worry!! It gets better!!

I would think its teething. DS is SOOOOO needy when he is teething. You cant put him down and every time he wakes up he wants his momma.

I think it's revenge of the 5 month olds!
DS has been doing the same!! He's been sleeping with us because I can't get out of bed every 30 minutes to put the pacifier back in his mouth.
But he started solids he's congested he grows like there's a race to be the tallest kid ever he's rolling over now
every day is something new... I hope today his new thing is SLEEP!

I always say- she reaches all her milestones so quickly- why can't SLEEP be on of them??

Your DH is probably right. What I learned from experience is that once you get used to one thing with your DC, it changes for NO reason and then you, the parent, is the one who has to re-adjust.

Same here. He's been asleep for an hour now which is better than yesterday so let's hope this is a trend.
DS sounds like yours - perhaps it's all the growing...last week he was on his tippee toes in the jumperoo and this week they were flat on the ground
Glad to hear I am not alone

Re: DH thinks "he's sick, having a growth spurt, teething or something like that"
I totally feel your pain. DD turned 5 months yesterday, and last night was a HORROR....she was up literally every 10 minutes, ALL DANG NIGHT!!!!
She already has her bottom teeth fully pushed through (you can clearly see them when she smiles, they're probably 1/2 way grown in now)....who the heck knows what it is. Could be teething, could be the rice cereal we started the other day, she could be fighting off the illness her sister has.
It was a horror. Since she turned 4 months her sleep has been horrible....but last night took the cake.

Re: DH thinks "he's sick, having a growth spurt, teething or something like that"
Well, unfortunately, it seems that as soon as a baby gets into a good phase, they switch into another one, sometimes good, sometimes bad It sounds like it's either teething or he might be getting ready to hit a milestone, be it physical or cognitive, etc. I know Chase, who's 6 months old, is waking all night long right now because he's hit a few milestones in the last week or so. He's been crawling around his crib in his sleep. It's so sad to watch him on the monitor crawling, crying, snoring, repeat If he has a fever or seems inconsolable, I'd bring him to the dr. other than that, it's probably jsut a phase.

Re: DH thinks "he's sick, having a growth spurt, teething or something like that"
DS was colic so when he finally slept i was so grateful but he went through the same thing at about 4 & 5 months and it was teething, the teeth werent coming through yet (they did at 6 months) but as per the Ped its the pain of them pushing through which radiates through their head. the only thing that calmed DS was the boob also. DS is 1 years old and when he is getting a new tooth it is 2-3 nights of hell and then it goes back to normal. Just be strong and know it gets better. Once he was 6 months, Motrin was a life saver!!!

Re: DH thinks "he's sick, having a growth spurt, teething or something like that"
Just a phase- probably a growth spurt but both my kids did not consistently sleep through the night until they were a year or so
Both a great sleepers now(almost 2 and 4) so there is light at the end of the tunnel- promise
