Did anyone have keratin just not take to their hair?
I just got keratin for the fourth time.
I did it years ago, but it was the cheaper version and I swear it only lasted a month. I used what the salon sold me. I didn't care for that hairdresser anyway so I switched.
Second time was about a year ago with a hairdresser I love and it came out GREAT. Coppola. Lasted almost 6 months - more than I hoped for. I was so happy. I used Renpure shampoo and conditioner - no sulfates, sodium cloride, etc.
Got it again third time in the spring and it was more like the first time - it lasted a very short time. I never once put my hair under water. My hair looked like shit all summer. I will admit, for the first week or so I used the Loreal sulfate free products but then after really reading the back I switched back to Renpure which has less crap in it.
Got it again 2 weeks ago and I'm disappointed again. My hair is STILL frizzy. Less so, but not anything close to as nice as it was when I got it done the second time, the only time I was happy with it. Using Renpure only.
Is it possible for it to just not work with some people? My hairdresser (who I trust) said I should try the 3 day version, but I don't know, because it's so expensive. I hate to keep throwing money at this. In the past few months I've spent hundreds and I'm not happy.
I am going out to buy a good leave in conditioner which I didn't think I would have to do.
Thoughts? Should I say something to my hairdresser? I have followed ALL the rules.

Call your hairdresser and tell her. I had to have certain sections of my hair treated again free of charge (2 weeks after having had it done) because it didn't take the first time. Happened the last two times I had it done and I've been doing the straightener since 2008.

I've been doing keratin for years and honestly some of the brands or formulas salons use are not good. Some use Brazilian blowout, and claim its keratin. The real keratin has a distinct formaldehyde smell to it and will make your eyes tear. They charge you the full kerati price, while using a completely diff product.

I got a keratin treatment and I swear it made absolutely no difference.
I do know my the girl who did it said she used the "formaldehyde free" kind. Maybe that made the difference.
But literally NOTHING changed about my hair. It is not smoother, does not dry faster, frizz is EXACTLY the same. It's very frustrating since I paid for it and then couldn't wash my hair for days. I'll never do it again.

The formaldehyde free ones do crap for me. I use the strong ones that you can't wash for 3 days and I usually don't wash for five lool

I have had it done 3 times. It lasts for about a month and that's it. My hair dresser said some people's hair just doesn't take

Also the sulfate free shampoo strips the Keratin. Sulfate free is good for color. You need sodium free. It's the salts that breakdown Keratin.
I buy mine off eBay and do it myself. So much cheaper and get the same results. I use agi max.
