Did I do the wrong thing? Would you go back?
I'm kind of freaking out right now, so bear with me.
So, I go to drop my four year old daughter off at preschool today. As I'm getting her situated, I hear one of Becky's friend's grandma telling the teacher how the child has been on the antibiotic for 48 hours now and the "thing on her face is all covered up." I look at the kid and sure enough, a giant bandage on her face. Then, I see the teacher go, "NO, he can't come today!" and move to block the classroom door. A mom is trying to drop her kid off, and proceeds to yell at the teacher that she spoke to the nurse and the kid can come to school, blah blah blah. This is a different kid, mind you. At this point I'm not having a good feeling about this, so I kneel down next to Becky, who's already absorbed in her craft, and ask her if she wants to go shoe shopping and out for ice cream with me instead of school today Bribery, right? She doesn't want to come, the second mom leaves with her kid, and I left Becky there against my better judgement.
Now here's my questions.... 1) WTH disease could cause a very mild mannered preK teacher to practically body block a kid from entering a classroom, and why wasn't I told about it, since clearly my child was exposed to it on friday? And is it going around?
2) Would you have left your kid or made a scene? I'm totally second guessing myself here.
Edited for spellling

I would have stopped by the office to ask the directors about it. Give the school a call, it will make you feel better.

I don't know, but our place actually posts signs on the doors saying "this room has been exposed to XXX" when there is a kid in class who had a contagious illness.
I actually would feel really good leaving my DD there if I were you.
First, if she was going to be exposed to something, it sounds like that exposure already happened-nothing you can do about that now.
Second-the first kid with the bandage sounds like he is completely taken care of since he has been on antibiotics for 48 hours-no longer contagious.
Third sounds like this teacher is fabulous at protecting the kids in her class from unwanted illness. I like her aggressiveness.
I don't know what illness that other kid could have, but maybe this it's not about the illness-, maybe those parents just have a habit of bringing in a sick child and she had had enough?
Anyway-I hope your DD stays healthy

Thanks. This actually made me feel better... thank you for your logic!!! Usually I am not a panicky mom, but this threw me for a loop for some reason today! Anyway, I'm going to speak to the teacher when I go to pick DD up today. Thanks again for the responses!
