Did you do any "no no's" while pregnant?
Just curious. From reading some threads I realize I was pretty lax with the "rules"
I had a few wine spritzers and maybe half a glass of wine once or twice toward the end.
I drank coffee daily
I ate coldcuts like they were going out of style- unheated
I ate soft serve ice cream and yogurt
Hot dogs ( is that a no-no?) I loved hot dogs
I used Splenda.
Diet soda here and there.
So what about you? Did you break any "rules" or were you super strict?

I was super laxed when I was PG. I changed nothing. Ate what I wanted and drank what I wanted. Not alcohol cause I'm not a big drinker anyway but had soda every day, cold cuts, hot dogs, etc Everyone turned out just fine . I'm also super laid back with my kids now!

I ate cold cuts.
I ate soft serve ice cream.
I used Splenda.
I used nose spray like a crazy person every time I had a cold.
I ate hot dogs.
I really wasn't crazy about things while pregnant. Some of the "no-no's" seemed a little ridiculous to me to stress about.

I was actually very strict when I was pregnant. I am a very laid back person, and am so with my kids now. But with pregnancy, I didn't want to take any chances. If my doctor told me not to do something, I didn't. Not a risk worth taking for me.

Pretty much all of them.
Although I didn't drink alcohol and I significantly cut back on caffeine.

Re: Did you do any "no no's" while pregnant?
I followed the no unpasteurized cheese, no cold cuts, no alcohol, and no sushi rules.
I also stayed away from cantaloupe since you constantly heard news reports of listeria outbreaks.
I know others have had the above without issues, but it took me forever to get pregnant and I knew someone that had a late term lose, so I wasn't chancing it.

I ate sushi, drank coffee, ate cold cuts, played on my sports teams until 22 weeks, had a glass of wine on occasion, took rx a few times, per dr's ok. Highlighted hair several times.
I find some if these listeria posts comical. Most recent outbreak involved fresh fruit.

I ate cold cuts, had a glass of wine here & there at a party or a on a holiday like Christmas & NYE, & made plenty of trips to Carvel. I don't like sushi or hot dogs so I wouldn't have eaten them anyway, but overall I was pretty lax.

I've never even heard of the soft serve thing until the recent thread. Don't recall having it but I wouldn't have thought twice about it.
I don't consider hot dogs a no no as long as they're well cooked. Not the healthiest, but not a listeria issue if you cook it hot enough.
Last time I stayed away from even pasteurized soft cheeses almost the whole time. I was surprised the NP said no pasteurized but she scared me with stories of having seen cases of listeria with her own patients. This time it wasn't mentioned and I did my own research which all said pasteurized was fine so I've been enjoying my feta and blue cheese!
I have a cup of coffee a day aside from the first few weeks.
Today I had my second piece of italian hero this pregnancy and it was delicious. I just can't pass that up at a party but other than that I don't do cold cuts.
With DD I had a few sips of wine the night I finally went into labor. May try that a little sooner this time around if I pass my due date!

I cut down on coffee, but still drank one cup every day. Had some cold cuts, but not a lot since I'm not a big cold cut person anyway. DH homebrews, so I had some beer Ate a few pieces of sushi I was cautious but not overly so.

I forgot, I highlighted my hair the entire pregnancy too. But that may not be a no-no since the foils prevent the bleach from getting on your scalp anyway.

Re: Did you do any "no no's" while pregnant?
I did it all- ate hot dogs and cold cuts, ate whatever cheese I wanted, had a cup of coffee, sometimes two a day, had the occasional glass of wine or beer, ate sushi.

I had coffee, although I tried to stick to decaf, it didn't last long.
I had soft serve ice cream
Ate soft cheese (without knowing if it was pasteurized)
Never ate pineapple though. I don't know why that stuck with me, lol

There is a book "Expecting Better" that goes through actual research with a lot of this stuff ( stats wise).

Little or no caffeine. Sex? Almost nonexistent Never cold cuts, nitrates, soft serve, not even cheese slices Cooked sushi rolls only, and *cough* I made sure they didn't cut them with a raw seafood knife No alcohol No non organic dairy or beef, except Wendy's once.
The only things that I'm doing different this time is more sex and maybe I would indulge in a glass of wine later on in my third tri.
I know, fanatic fanatic, nuts, weirdo whatever. It just took me so long to get pg, It wasn't worth the risk to me. Still isn't.

Re: Did you do any "no no's" while pregnant?
Very lax.
Ate cold cuts and didn't heat them up beforehand.
Drank diet coke every day.
Ate sushi.
Took sips of alcohol on some occasions.
DD is absolutely perfect!
ETA: took over two years to conceive but my dr never told me I couldn't or shouldn't do any of the above.

I've been a lot more relaxed with this pregnancy than my first. I'm generally a rule follower. I consider myself a relaxed parent. I just knew that if something happened, I would blame it on that one time I touched cold cuts and then didn't wash my hands and touched my mouth... Nuts, I know, but as pps have said, it just wasn't worth the risk to me. I ate one piece of prosciutto my first pregnancy and cried for hours that I harmed the baby - I know I'm nuts, but for me it was always better safe than sorry. What are the chances I could get something? Probably 1 in 10,000, but it's still a chance I'm not willing to take!

I was fairly strict. I had coffee daily but limited it to about 200mg per day until 15 weeks when my doctor gave me the OK to drink as much coffee as I wanted. I had a few sips of wine. Other then that I suck to the long list of no-no's from my RE. I felt better safe then sorry.

Re: Did you do any "no no's" while pregnant?
Nope, but I don't do a lot of that stuff normally
Don't drink coffee Don't eat cold cuts Don't eat hot dogs
I do drink wine and eat sushi but it was so hard for us to get pregnant I was too nervous to do any of that.

Many of the items listed weren't no nos according to my dr.
So all I did was no booze and no coffee but the coffee was only because the thought of it made me sick.

I remember learning from someone or something somewhere that pineapple can induce labour. I already had preterm labour and wasn't about to chance it

Re: Did you do any "no no's" while pregnant?
I break all the rules
Hot dogs, cold cuts, runny eggs, tuna - all my main diet
I drink at least three cups of caffeine (coffee in morning, 2 sodas during day)
I don't drink as much water as I'm supposed to.
I sleep on my back!
I have wine occasionally and had two full glasses last week while on vacation.
The only one I follow is the artificial sweeteners, but that has nothing to do with pregnancy. I get migraines from any artificial sweeteners so I steer clear, pregnant or not.
There are a lot more rules I don't follow. I don't have time for that, especially with 4 other kids to take care of. I eat when I can and what I can in between

I think a lot of these no nos are things that drs never told us. It was because someone read it somewhere or heard it from their brothers aunts 4th cousin.
There is actually very little pg women need to stay away from.
