I went once, this place in Flushing, the mean teacher singled me out because I couldn't get this move—she made everyone else sit down and just repeatedly yelled at me until I did the move for everyone. Needless to say, I refused to go back. I was seven. Then for the next six months I drove my sisters and mom crazy doing that move around the house in the same light blue leotard I so carefully picked out and wore to my one day of class. I had to get my recital time in some how. Dream crusher!
I think I went to that place as a kid- the teacher was horrible. Where was it?
I also went to Robert Mann in Bayside for 2 years of jazz. I stunk....

I went to countless schools all over the island and even in Manhattan...June Claire being one of them!  I took ballet from 2 1/2 - 18...I tried jazz for a year but I was too classical. I was in Robert christopher's "school" too - that ballet company they formed...and before that I was in Miss Denise's class. I also had a "solo" for the 5 or 6 years I was there - apparently that caused quite a stir since the "rules" were you had to take ballet, tap & jazz and be there for a few years b4 being considered for a solo...I was offered one at my first dress rehearsal there. LOL
I also danced with Seiskaya Ballet, and a couple of Madame's that I can't remember for the life of me. I took private lessons starting at 7...and was on point within that year 
did mr christpher wear a bra?
(i could have sworn he wore a bra, and blush!)
also- i may know you - were you in the book???? i may know your last name just by looking at the book

hmm...I went to ballet, tap and jazz when I was 5-6 @ Dancing Plus in Queens.
Then went to George Connelly Dance studio in Queens for Acrobatics from ages 7-9
Then went back to Dancing Plus from ages 9-11 for gymnastics
Then I went to Nina's Gymnatics in Queens from ages 11-13 1/2
I quit right before I entered High School because everyone kept telling me what a great gymnastics team my HS had and then the year I started HS, the team was dissolved b/c the coach left. 
I never got back into it because Nina's Gym wanted me there 5 days a week and my parents thought that was too much.

OMG - I almost choked on a french fry!!
I don't ever remember him wearing a bra or blush...he came from Alvin Ailey and always had "Juan" by his side.
I'm definitely older than you - by almost 10 years (I think) - but I was there when I was young...so it's possible. I remember magazine-like books and have a few of those...

No problem.....I could "shuffle off to Buffalo" and totally impress you!!! I'm surprised I lasted as long as I have, cause I"m not the most graceful person in the world.  I think I even knocked over a few girls with the "swinging arm of death"!!

I dont remember the place when I was little but it was in Jackson Heights for ballet and then in 10th grade I started hip hop classes at the Golden School of Dance in Williston Park.

Yes. I went to LA Dance Studio in Lindenhurst/Massapequa for over 10 years. I had Miss Linda all the time. I took everything ballet, tap, jazz, point, lyrical etc... I was even in the company and competed for several years. Tremaine Dance Convention was my favorite, Dan from SYTYCD was on the staff.

I'm 29 too...but I didn't start there until I was about 14 or 15 - I took about a million years of twirling before that! I'm old too! 
Where did you do twirling? I did that too for many years in Port Jeff.

I took tap and jazz from 13 on at a small school in East Islip and then switched to one in West Islip. I still take an occassional class at Broadway Dance Center and I took ballroom for a year at Arthur Murray.

Me too!! but not for 7 years...maybe 3-4...but I think I remember the acrobatics too...
