my DS will only be 19 months old, i'm very upset I won't be able to see him for 5 days. He had his swine flu shot, what was the purpose of getting him that shot then when I bring my baby home, baby will be exposed to my DS anyway. this rule doesn't make sense. and now when mommy comes home after 5 days of DS not seeing me, It will be the first time he is meeting the baby.
I feel the exact same way...DS will be 20 months. I cried hysterically when I heard this news. Mommy goes away for a few days and comes home with a new sibling. Doesn't seem fair. If he has any sickness(he was vaccinated as well, and so was I which should make my newborn vaccianted for 6 months)...he is going to give it to his sibling anyway!

Re: Did you know- due to the swine, no children visitors allowed in maternity (hospital)?
I delivered DD #2 the middle of June at LIJ in New Hyde Park. DD#1 was not allowed to visit at all. I had a scheduled c/s and went FIVE days without seeing my daughter. I cried when leaving her before going to the hospital and cried with anticipation seeing my little girl after a week and seeing the look on her face when she saw her little sister. She had such a blast at my sister's house and knowing she was having such a great time made it easier on me to relax, bond with my newborn and just rest when I could. As much as I hated not seeing her, I understand it's not just my child they are protecting - it's other patients in the hosptial as well.
