Did you wait to try again?
One docotor told me to wait atleast one menstral cycle and another said there is no need to wait since everything seems to be clean in my uterus.
I will probably wait to try again but I'm surprised by two different suggestions

I was told two months also. I read that the lining of the uterus needs time for healing and the walls to rebuild the mucus it needs for egg to attach. Read that getting pregnant again too soon is risky. Im doing what my Dr suggested.. I dont want to go thru a m/c ever again, Good luck to you.

This all makes a lot of sense. I def NEVER want to go through this again. I think I will give my body some times to heal.

Re: Did you wait to try again?
after the m/c in April, i was told to wait 3 cycles... i waited 4 and ended up having a chemical... a lot of drs say to wait just as a precaution... if they didnt give you a medical reason, and another dr said all was clear to try again asap then i would.

One part of me would love to ttc again as soon as I can. But...another part of me feels like if I had another mc I would always believe it was bc I didn't wait even if it wasn't. I am also not as anxious as I thought I would be. I guess this whole experience really took a toll on me bc my personalality would normally have me jumping right back into things like yesterday and I do not feel that way right now. I am still bleeding so I bet a have a few weeks before I could possibly try again anyway.
THANKS

Re: Did you wait to try again?
This was my thought process. I was told to wait three months and there was no way I was trying before then because god forbid something happened and I miscarried again I know I would blame myself.
That brought us to mid-summer and I bought the business so I needed to get things up and running with that which is why this month is our first month trying (technically 6 months after the miscarriage)

Re: Did you wait to try again?
I got two very different answers from the two doctors I wound up seeing for my miscarriage and D&C.
One told me to wait until after I got my first post-D&C period then start trying again.
The other said "three months."
I decided to see how things went and then decide whose point of view to go with. I had my post-op just one week after the D&C and everything looked exactly as it should be and I was completely healed and told I didn't have to come back again. Then I got my first period 5 weeks to the day after the D&C. After that I started temping and charting again and I ovulated and got my next period exactly as I did pre-pregnancy.
With that in mind I wound up deciding not to wait any more after two full cycles and just shy of the three month mark.
So I guess it was a compromise between what the two doctors told me. After my miscarriage I made running and the Cow Harbor race my new focus, and having achieved my goal time for that race, I felt that it was time to move forward again with TTC.
Good luck.

Re: Did you wait to try again?
I was told to wait 2 cycles after my D&C. We waited 3 before trying and month 3 and 4 were not really trying. He wasn't ready again. month 5 after we tried again and I got pregnant. I am in hiding b/c people know me IRL and I want to wait to come out.
I am glad that we didn't try sooner -- I wasn't ready, and if something went wrong I would always blame myself.

It's crazy how focusing on something else positive helps to get your mind of things and ready for a fresh start...good luck!

Amazing what you have accomplished in 6 months! Hopefully we will be on the pregnancy boards together within the next few months...

Re: Did you wait to try again?
I think this depends on the type of pregnancy, how far along you were and whether or not you miscarried naturally or needed a D&C.
In my case, I miscarried naturally very early on and I got the green light right after my first period which was 28 days after I passed the tissue.

THIS is still me, months later. Doctor said we could start trying after 1 full cycle. I change my mind every other day. Sometimes, I'm all on board for trying again and then the next, I change my mind because I might not be ready to deal with a pregnancy so soon again. I feel like the fear of another possible loss is preventing me from fully trying.

I was told to wait 1 cycle but ended up waiting 2. I just got AF for cycle #3 so I am hoping #4 will be lucky for us.

Re: Did you wait to try again?
i was told that after i got my first period after the D&C, that i could try again. i had my post-op 4 weeks after the d&c and everything looked good, and my bloodwork came back where it should, my hcg went all the way down so everyone was happy with that. they told me to use protection until after i got my period, they didn't want me getting pregnant before having a natural cycle. i got my period 5 weeks and 4 days after the d&c, so today is CD #9 and we will be trying this month. i feel like it's been forever already.

Re: Did you wait to try again?
my doc told me I could start trying even before I got my first period post d&c. I decided on my own that I would wait until I got my first period before ttc again. I am currently on on cd5 and plan on starting to try again next week ! Every doc has a different answer and you are free to chose however long you want.
Yes it may be risky ttc so soon after the m/c, but I would really hate to wait months and months before ttc again, and then what if it took months to actually get pregnant again, and then what if god forbid that ended up in another m/c. This would be a long period of time that goes by. If I have infertility problems I would rather know sooner than later.

Re: Did you wait to try again?
I waited. Waiting was really hard but 2 doctors told me to wait. They said my body needed time to heal so the uterine lining could build back up and be ready for another implantation. I also had testing done so I was waiting for those results to come in before trying again in case they found something that needed to be treated during pregnancy.
Even though I menstruated 30 days after my d&c and had regular cycles afterwards my horomones felt totally out of whack and emotionally I was a wreck. I think that has something to do with why they tell you to wait.
I waited mostly out of fear. I got pregnant the first cycle off birth control on the first try and I wonder if that had something to do with the loss I had. Maybe my body wasn't ready and it was too soon? I never found out why I miscarried, all my testing came back fine and baby was normal.
Lots of luck when you are ready. I think being mentally ready is really important. You need to be ready to accept the disappointment if you don't get pregnant and you need to be ready if you do.
