Did you wait until 12 weeks to tell everyone?

Alot of our friends know bc dh didn't realize I wanted to wait to tell everyone. I told my parents the night I found out and then the rest of my family on mothers day...

But for those who don't know, I kinda want to tell them just so I'm not holding it in anymore... But in the same breath- I really would like to wait.

I'm only 8 weeks..

our parents and sisters knew early on, but we told everyone else after we saw the HB at 8 weeks.

We waited to tell everyone also at 12 weeks. I only told my mother both times before the 12 weeks.

close friends and our 'support' line people were told right away.

family was not told until 12 weeks.

this is a very personal decision - there were reasons for doing what we did and i'm sure others have similar reasoning...etc.

Re: Did you wait until 12 weeks to tell everyone?

We told our parents and siblings between 6 and 7 weeks.

Everyone else (mostly) was told at the 13 week mark.

It's an entirely personal decision. I know people that tell everyone as soon as they POAS, and others that wait to tell even family until after the first tri. Do what you and DH feels right for YOU guys.

Re: Did you wait until 12 weeks to tell everyone?

We pretty much told everyone. DH is not much of a secret keeper at all, and I am not superstitious to the point of waiting until 12 weeks.

We had also had a miscarriage in Nov, and found out in Feb we were pregnant. So we figured that no matter what happened we were going to tell everyone anyways, so why not start with the goods news, and hope we never get to the what if bad news part.

Re: Did you wait until 12 weeks to tell everyone?

I told my mom the minute I POAS. she knew we were trying (basically just my family knew. I have a very small family) my grandma was with her & she told my brother & sister. I told my 2 aunts I believe the next day. We waited until our first appointment with the drs to tell his parents & his mom was so excited she made me tell his aunt & 2 cousins (they're extremely close) we waited until I believe 10 weeks to tell the rest of the family and I think either that week or maybe a week later we told our friends. I was too excited to wait

I'm 8 weeks too and we wanted to keep it to just really close friends and family (we told them about 2 weeks ago when we were able to see the heartbeat). My mom got s excited she started telling everyone, so I think our secret is pretty much out now.

We told our parents and siblings as soon as we found out (5 wks).

DH told his manager soon after.

I told a co-worker at 8 wks.

We told everyone else around 15 wks, including close friends, family and my manager.

I am glad we waited but then again I am a private person.

Re: Did you wait until 12 weeks to tell everyone?

With DS I told my immediate family at 6 wks (b/f my first OB visit) and planned to tell everyone else after the 1st trimester. Well, before I even hit 7 wks so many people knew we had to tell everyone. I felt really uncomfortable with the situation b/c I hadn't even been to the OB yet.

With this pg I have only told my mom, my sister and a few of my best friends. I will tell the rest of my immediate family and DH's immediate family after our first OB visit at 8 wks.

I agree with the mentality of telling if you would tell everyone of a miscarraige anyway but, I don't think holding off is for "superstitious" reasons. I had an acquanitance that found out she was pg around the same time I did. She told EVERYONE and their brother right away. When she miscarried she was so devastated she had a family member email everyone she knew and told them what happened and that she didn't want to talk about it. The next pregnancy - she told no one until 12 wks. Anyway, just putting this out there b/c this is why I am waiting this time - I would of course tell my immediate family if anything but wouldn't want to be explaining to everyone.

Re: Did you wait until 12 weeks to tell everyone?

Only told my parents, my brother, DH's parents and DH's sister before 13 weeks. It was sooo hard keeping it a secret but its what we felt most comfortable doing.

Re: Did you wait until 12 weeks to tell everyone?

I told my parents at about 6wks I think when I was pg with DD. My mother proceeded to slowly blab it to the entire family in the weeks following that. My MIL we told right after my 1st OB appt at 8wks because we knew that telling her would have been like taking a front page ad about it. Chat Icon Not sure how long we'll wait this time with this one.

We told everyone right away. I can't keep a secret- so there was no use in trying.

Re: Did you wait until 12 weeks to tell everyone?

We told parents, siblings and close friends around the 7 or 8 week mark. I also told my immediate boss then as well. I'm 12 weeks now and don't plan on telling the rest of my colleagues until 14 weeks.
