DH took a week off when I had DS and then he took 5 weeks off when I had to go back to work (after 7 weeks) to stay home with DS.

my DH took off 2 weeks
same here. Then he worked for a week and took off a few more weeks (I can't remember how many) His company had a really good paternity leave policy. He could take off 6 weeks, but didn't.

He took off a little over a week and then took off 1-2 days week for the next few weeks.

With #1, yes, he took a week off.
With #2, no  I'm lucky he came to pick me up at the hospital. He dropped me home and went to work

No. He didn't even take 1 day  Actually, he took time while I was in the hospital, but I was on my own at home. DH is in private practice so no work=no pay. Also, he teaches college and the semester was *just* starting when I had Katherine.

We work for the same company so we had to choose which of is got to take leave.
I took the "official" leave and he took vacation time here and there.

My Dh took off 2 weeks, but that was because out son was in NICU, and I really neded the support, and he NEEDED to be with his son, not knowing the outcome. Once we got home I was on my own. His company has NO paternity leave, but they were great about letting his have off while DS was in hospital.
I think with #1 it's not so bad, they mostly sleep. With #2 or more I would imagine you wold need the help adjusting to newborn and attending o other children...haven't crossed that bridge yet.

he had his scheduled 2 days off during my hospital stay. he talked to co-workers about getting 2 more days that week off by working days for them the following week.

Yes he took 3 weeks.
He "claims" he's going to take a full 3 months if/when we have another. I'll believe it when I see it.

Since DH works nights, he took off the day I have the baby, went to work at night the days I was in the hospital and then took 2 weeks off starting when we came home.

DH is a teacher - I had Jack on June 28th - he was home with us for the first two months. It was great.

with DD#1 he got a week paternity, plus took 3 weeks off. Since she was born 12/1 with all the holidays he was home the entire month and first week of January
I have no idea what will happen with DC#2 since he's looking to change companies

Dh didnt have tenure yet so he only took 2 days. I was upset because I had a csection. next time he better get time off

DH took a week and then had carte blanche from his office to work from home as needed for 6-8 weeks, so nice of them!

No. We came home from the hospital on a friday and DH was back at work the following monday. It was fine though. I didnt have a c section so I just sat under DD all day feeding and looking at her

Yes, but he is also self-employed, so that makes it much easier to do, I guess.

My husband is self employed and to take off of work it probably wouldn't be the best decsion because NO work No money. However while I was in the hospital he would take off those days and he day I came home. But after that back to work. My mom usually would take off a wk or a couple of days in case I needed help though.
