I have a question - and I'm not being a wise a$$ - Maybe I read the article wrong, but was this a one shot deal thing where on a particualr night families of children with autism went to the restaraunt at the same time ? So, basically there was a large gropu of people there with this in common ?
While I think it's a nice gesture, and I'm sure a 'break' for the families and the children, not to have to deal with ingorant people .......was that the whole point ??
How does it help these same children and their families on an average night out?
Am I just being negative ?? -

it sounds like this was a one evening event and this event made it easier for families with children with disabilities to have an evening out and meet up with others. hopefully, the news of this event will spread and more stores/restaurants/events in our communities will do more to accommodate those with disabilities. you have to plant the seed before the flower can bloom. with the staggering number of children being diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders more needs to be done for them and their families.

A group we are affiliauted with will have movie days/nights for familes with someone on the spectrum - this way the whole group is tolerant of the noise and the behaviors related to autism....
