Re: DISNEY: Told not to go...
I personally wouldn't spend the money to go at that age but everyone does what they are comfortable to do with their family. It's not for anyone else to decide. We're going to CA this year so we'll do Disneyland for a day. When my kids are older we'll do Disney in FL.

Re: DISNEY: Told not to go...
Its up to you.
Will they remember the trip? Probably not.
I think its about the family, the fun you will have and seeing their expressions.. that to me is PRICELESS.
that is the memory you will have.
I have taken my DD, at age 2 and age 3 again and all we did was take a day trip to Magic Kingdom.

Re: DISNEY: Told not to go...
GO!!!
I took my girls last year (DD#1 was turning 3 the next month -34.5 months and DD#2 turned 1 on the trip). We had a blast. It was SO worth it. Yes it was some work - but I wouldn't trade it for anything!
We went May 15-24th 2010. To this day - DD#1 can tell me where she met Mary Poppins (in front of the Carousel) and that she wished Maddie a Happy Birthday. She can tell me about MOST of the rides she went on, about dressing up like Cinderella and having dinner with Ariel, Snow White, Belle, Aurora, and Cinderella. She remembers so much - including the pool, etc.
DD#2 was only 12 months - so I doubt she remembers much - but she loved it too - was clapping, dancing and singing.
As far as lines - we get to the parks when they 1st open and tour as MUCH as possible until lunch time. We utilize Fastpass as much as possible and we spend very little time in line. We leave the parks a lunch time (we either eat in the park then leave or eat at our hotel) we give naps and swim time and return around 4-5 pm do a few rides and have an early dinner - a few more rides and go back around 8 (sometimes earlier or later depending on our plans for the next day). DD#1 is NOT good with waiting in lines she gets very impatient and fidgety/jumpy. But since we didn't wait longer than 10-15 mins for anything she was really good. The one time we had to wait a while we were able to distract her with a travel size magnadoodle and some I spy games.
It can definitely be done and can be fun if you plan yourself accordingly. There are play places in the parks, interactive water areas etc - if they need to let off some steam too.

Re: DISNEY: Told not to go...
We plan on going to Disney when our kids are 2 and 3. I think that would be a perfect age.
We travel a lot with DS though, so we are used to it. We just got back from a 7-day vacation to Hawaii, we took him to Las Vegas at 10 months old.
Don't get me wrong, vacations take on a whole new meaning with kids. But we love to travel and it's something we never plan to give up, kids or not.

Re: DISNEY: Told not to go...
I took Aiden last April at 18 months and he LOVED it!!!!! We went on almost all the rides at Magic Kingdom, and lots of rides at EPCOT and Animal Kingdom. We had so much fun we are going again this April.
Last year we stayed at a moderate Disney resort, Caribbean Beach. We stayed at the pool in the morning and would get to the parks in the afternoon. We would have an early dinner and then hit the rides! The great thing is that if you stay at the resorts you get extended hours at the park --- we barely had to wait on any lines -- plus many of the lines on the kiddie rides move quickly. He loved the character dinner at Magic Kingdom, loved the rides and loved the parades. We had an awesome time. My recommendation -- go! you'll have a blast :))

Re: DISNEY: Told not to go...
If it's a choice of going this year vs. next year then wait 'cus the kids will get more out of it when they are 3 and up.
I'm going and will be renting a timeshare with a 1 bedroom, kitchenette and washing machine. It's the Wyndham Bonnet Creek across from the Disney Caribbean Resort and a bargain at $80/night. Check on the Vacation board for ideas on where to stay.
The resort has a playground, pools, and lazy river so the kids can enjoy the outdoors even if we're not at an amusement park.
Hope your DH changes his mind!

This resort looks amazing and we are going to stay here next time we go.
FYI, you can find great rates for it on ebay!

Re: DISNEY: Told not to go...
you know your kiddies best, are they go with the flow type of kids? or a mess if they are not in their schedule? I wanted to go when DS 1 is 3YO , DS 2 will be 1 YO. many people were advising us NOT to go because of all the issues they had. when I really sit and think about it and talk w/ DH , we know these kids are not easy going and it will be a mess . we are going to put it off for a few years.
