So far for us DS has only been to friends and family parties so the whole family is invited and attends.

When ds starts getting invited to school friend parties do I take him alone? Is it typically a moms thing?

It's usually one parent attending until they're old enough to be dropped off at parties.

Re: Do both parents typically attend birthday parties?

I think it depends. If it is your first DC and they are 2 years old (in a preschool program) I found that most of the time both the mom and dad attended the party. If it was a second child then only one parent would attend. At this point my kids are almost 5 and 3 only one parent attends with one child. If both of my kids are invited then usually both DH and I will attend too.

Makes sense in light of the other thread since most people have more than one DC and only one is invited.

My son is 2.5 and I've found at most of the parties he's been to often both parents attend.

Just one is needed so either DH or I go. I have 3 children, my oldest is going to be 11 in a few days so Ive been to quite a few parties. Most host parents purchase additional food and drinks etc for the parents who stay. My DH or I stay home with the siblings Chat Icon

DH and I both take DD to parties but since the parties are all for our friends kids (none of them are in school yet) it is an opportunity for us to socialize as well. Chat Icon
