Do the food aversions go away later in pregnancy?

I know it's common early on- but for those of you that are further along- did you get your normal appetite back at all?

Luckily I haven't been sick or had any morning sickness (other than some gagging here and there if my stomach is empty)
but I can barely look at any form of meat and I have NO desire to have my morning coffee AT ALL! Chat Icon

And forget it with certain smells- just cooking dinner for my husband makes me want to wear a respirator mask so I don't have to smell anything! Chat Icon

Please tell me this goes away at some point!

Not for everyone. Some of mine got worse. Depends on the person.

Some do... some don't!

In the beginning I couldn't look at chicken, fish, or meat.

Now I just don't like specific kinds of those.. like GRILLED chicken or STEAK - but will eat roasted chicken, hamburgers... weird, I know.

I stopped drinking coffee in my second tri because it totally turned me off - now I'll have it every so often, but I don't love it as much as I used to. I got really into lattes and tea though.

I'm going through the same thing now.

With DD it was the same also, and I got back to normal after the 12th week.

I am early in my Preganancy and have horrible Nausea and hate food right now. I have no interest in it and I am sure it will pass soon.

Re: Do the food aversions go away later in pregnancy?

I was so sick at the beginning and the only thing I could eat was pasta, without sauce. or bread.

I still have bad M/S, but I am not sick throughout the day. I can not eat certain types of chicken ( i never ate any other kind of meat). I am slowly getting my appetite back though.

I think for some people it gets better, and for some it gets worse. Stick with what you enjoy!

It did for me at week 16 with DS. With this one knock on wood I don't have them.

Re: Do the food aversions go away later in pregnancy?

Thanks for all the replies.
I am hoping to be able to eat normally again soon. I feel like I get no protein because all forms of protein turn me off right now.

There is one good aversion though- the thought of beer/wine or any other form of booze turns me off too!
And I was a HUGE lover of my beer/wine before this.
I really thought it would be so hard to not have a drink- but so far I can't even THINK of it- so that's a plus! Chat Icon

I don't necessarily have food aversions at 24 weeks, but there certainly are things I do and do not want to eat....and that changes by the minute.

I had a serious meat aversion in my 1st trimester with my 1st pg. I didn't cook at all during that time. Luckily it ended somewhere in the beginning of my 2nd trimester.

Mine went away. I had a salad aversion during the first trimester but it went away pretty quickly.

Re: Do the food aversions go away later in pregnancy?

For me they did. With DS it took a while - I was well into my 3rd tri before I could eat normally again.

This time I was in the beginning of my 2nd tri when I could eat all of my normal foods. But I still have "moods" where I can't eat certain things. For a while it was bacon.

Re: Do the food aversions go away later in pregnancy?

I didn't even want to eat most of the time in 1st trimester and kinda part of 2nd...but lately I have an instiable appetite.

My food aversion is bacon and I still hate it.

Re: Do the food aversions go away later in pregnancy?

There were certain things that I couldn't eat at all throughout my pregnancy. Many of my food aversions went away by the end of the first trimester though.
