Do you agree or disagree with this statement?
I think that it is very important to be involved and active in my neighborhood and/or community especially now that I own a home/ property in the area.
Agree or disagree
Feel free to explain your reasoning too

Considering your home is probably your most valuable asset, I think it's probably in your best interest to protect that asset by being involved in your community.

Re: Do you agree or disagree with this statement?
This is such a hard topic for me because I want to badly to "be involved" in my community both socially and as a part of my community development (I live in a townhouse community). But people don't show up to the meetings and there is such 'hate' amongst the people that live here or own here (landlords), it just disgust me. I wish so badly to live in a normal neighborhood

I'm in the middle. I think it's important to support local businesses, but I'm not sure where else I'd want to be involved in the community.

I mean being involved in the sense like a community watch or if you see something that needs to be improved that you call the town etc.

Re: Do you agree or disagree with this statement?
I agree. I am from a big town and I am not involved so much with the town, but in my actual little neighborhood I am. All of the neighbors are very friendly and look out for eachother's property. There are a few issues I know of where neighbors and/or we have called the town for improvements.

I agree...I just don't have the time to do it right now....as soon as I can though, I hope to become more involved!

Re: Do you agree or disagree with this statement?
i rent right now but I love the idea of being a permanent part of a community when we decide to buy/move. Whether it within a co-op building or in a town, there are so many benefits to be had when you involved yourself in some capacity

Re: Do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Definitely agree! Even from just living in a condo community - you can tell the units where the owners lived versus those where the renters lived. Most quality of life issues came from renters.

Re: Do you agree or disagree with this statement?
I'm 100% in favor of supporting & participating in my community. I served 3 years on the board of directors for our civic association and chaired two commitees. My DH was just elected to the board. We donate, volunteer & attend community events.
I made it a point when we moved here to meet as many people as I could & I'm proud to say I really like just about everyone I know that lives in my neighborhood. Its a pleasure to meet monthly to discuss things we want to improve in our neighborhood. I'm a big supporter of our library & fire department. We even march in our Memorial Day parade with our civic association.
I'm a big fan of calling the town or submitting a written complaint. I frequently call the non-emergency police number when I observe something inappropriate-not just in my own neighborhood. Not every house in my neighborhood has great curb appeal, some of the houses are even a little run down, but the people here are nice hardworking people & I'd rather live here than in a place where people don't even know their neighbors!

Re: Do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Completely agree, but would add that it's important for non-home owners/renters to be involved as well.
I'm involved in community groups but not town politics.

Re: Do you agree or disagree with this statement?
I am involved in our town but not in politics & would never venture that route. We live in a great neighborhood & everyone watches out for each other. On numerous occassions I have had to contact the town about issues & have always gotten positive feedback along with resolutions. I also agree that we must support the town businesses.

Re: Do you agree or disagree with this statement?
I think it is very important to volunteer and be part of my community. To me, home ownership does not play much of a role in whether or not I am active in the community, I have volunteered for many years and have only owned a home for 2.5.
