Do you ever warn people of a cop ahead when driving?

Just wondering, since someone flashed their lights to warn of a cop ahead this morning and it got me wondering.

I've never done it. It's pretty thoughtful of these people do it for perfect strangers, no? Although I do believe it's against the law.

No - I never do it.

If I am speeding or driving like a lunatic, I know I'm taking the chance that a cop is going to nab me. I guess I feel like people should KNOW that police are around and that they might get caught if they choose to drive like nuts!

No - I never do it.

No, I don't. People should be careful driving all the time, not just when they think a cop is ahead.

Hell no. The drivers down here are lunatics and I want them to get caught. Their was one guy I saw drive on the shoulder because he didnt want to wait in slow moving traffic. I knew their was a highway patrol guy not too far ahead and that guy got busted. If I know their is a cop ahead let those who feel the need to do 90, change lanes without looking or a directional, tail gate and are just nuts get caught.

If their are cops on the road where I know DH is going to be driving by I tell him be careful and he does the same for me

I used to see this a lot more often years ago than I do now........

I may have done it once or twice back in the day.

Nope. If someone is driving dangerously, I want them to get pulled over. The roads are dangerous enough as it is.

I do remember doing it once in high school because I thought it was the cool thing to do. I happened to mention this to my parents and got quite a talking to!

When I was younger, I did.

Now I flick my lights if something is going on that they should slow down for (an accident, some kids walking, etc.).

nope, never did... although i am sure if i saw a cop and slowed down a bit, someone behind me might assume that the tap on my brakes was a warning...

I do it.. where I live we have alot of back roads that the speed limit is 30 and cops will get you for going 32.

I do it... and i've noticed that everyone here in FL does it!

There is a road with a bridge that goes over 95 on my way to work that is 30mph (which is so ridiculous b/c it's 3 lanes and no side streets intercepting it) and there were three cops with the radar guns on one side. As we were going over to the other side every single car on my side (including me) were flashing their lights for the people going over to the side the cops were on.

I never knew about this! Interesting! ( I don't drive much but I have never noticed it. )

its a big FL thing. When we lived in Tampa, people did it all the time.

I never see it done in Charlotte....although, I am never really out much in charlotte to know

Never......people drive like morons down here and I'd be happy for them to get a ticket

I am confused

if you are in front of someone and see a cop on the side of the road, what good is flashing your lights going to do for the people behind you?

I know I am not understanding this correctly, can someone clue me in?

I have, but never on LI - more so upstate or out west.

No, not to warn b/c there's a cop ahead.

Like Barb, I will flash my lights to warn someone to slow down b/c of an accident, etc. OR if their headlights are off when they should be on.
