People on Cell Phones While Driving

Just needed to vent how much this annoys me everyday. As if rush hour traffic isn't already bad enough as it is. Seeing someone driving erratically because he/she is leaning to the passenger side, holding a phone up, trying to conceal it (and doing a poor job at it!) just makes me wish I could take their phones and run over them. If it's that much of a deal, buy a blue-tooth headset for $30 bucks, or just pull over. Granted other distractions cause the same situation, but I see phone-use at least 5-10 times a day. Ah well, that's NY driving.

Texting too. I almost got killed yesterday by some chick sending texts on her blackberry while doing 70 MPH on the expressway

It's not a law yet down here in NC -- so you can imagine all the knuckleheads chattin on the phone while driving......drives me nutz.....

They just made it a primary offence here in NJ to be on your phone while driving. I still cannot believe how many people do it, especially now that you can be pulled over for it.

This is my biggest pet peeve. I love my blue tooth and recommend it to every driver!!!! I almost got hit by someone talking on their cell phone and then they glared at me because I honked at them to let them know I was there.

I HATE people that drive and talk on their phones They drive erratically and it pizzes me off to no end. If you can afford the car, the gas, the insurance and the phone you can certainly afford the EARPIECE so my life is not in jeopardy.
Too bad it doesn't seem to be a law that is enforced but everyone will complain when someone is killed by a person not paying attention to the driving because they're on their phones

I also love when they are in the left lane......and people have to go around them......they still dont realize they're doing about 40. I never see anyone on their cellphones drive normal......always slooooooooooow....and totally f'n clueless!

My BIGGEST driving pet peeve Don't get me started! I can't tell you how much I see it and how much it annoys me. They can be a complete danger to everyone else on the road!

I was waiting today to turn left onto Jericho Tpke in Syosset. Rather busy intersection. I was the first car, so I got a good look at every person turning off Jericho Tpke to head north. In the 2 minute span I was at the light, I saw 4 people making the turn talking on their cell.

Guess what? They were all FEMALE

that's totally me. i text while driving but i dont need to look at my phone to text. i also text with one hand. i know that's no excuse and i shouldn't do it, but it's a flaw.

I cannot and probably never will understand this obsession with cell phones. It boggles my mind how people are on the phone either talking or texing as much as they are. There are no boundaries!!!!!!! Call me crazy but I don't think any means of communication is worth indangering yourself or others. The guilty people rarely get hurt, rather they cause injury or death to others. It makes me so.

my DH does this and it drives me nuts. he has a friggin hands free too, that he always leaves at home. i leave mine at home sometimes too - but no phone call is so important that you can't just pull the fluck over!!!

I wonder how much this law is enforced- so many people seem to do it that I think most people think the law's a joke. I see so many people on my commute, and it's so annoying.

But to be honest, texting is likely more dangerous.

My father wants to get one of those GIANT size play phones and everytime he sees someone talking on one while driving he wants to whip it out and put it to his ear as if hes talking to someone..

I seem to notice it a lot when people are pulling into parking spots. I guess bc everyone is going slower in parking lot. But it's always someone holding a phone with one hand, chatting away and trying to manuevre in or out of a spot, and generally doing a bad job.

Yes it's wrong and it makes me crazy too. But I really hate the people that scream out of their windows in their cars, as if they were some kind of authority figure, and say "GET OFF THE PHONE" Let the cops take care of it.

I think it's like $150 ticket
