Re: Do you feel sentimental attachments to your wedding paraphernalia?

I'm very sentimental. I had my boquet preserved in a shadow box with the invitation, and I look at it everyday and smile. My dress is preserved in a box in my closet. I just can't part with it and wanted to keep it in the best condition possible. I still have my cardbox. I will probably get rid of it after I put the cards and response cards in my scrapbook.

Edited because I thought I quoted someone but I hadn't.

Re: Do you feel sentimental attachments to your wedding paraphernalia?

Attached? Well some things I guess yes I am!

Cake Toppers: by Charming Tails....a little set of forest creatures in various wedding day get ups! The are displayed with my Tiara & my Toasting Flutes.

My shoes, while I will NEVER wear them again, I will keep because it was such an accomplishment to get someone to dye them red, white & blue for me!! They are in a box with our cards, extra invites and stuff. It's not a huge box, so I will keep it!

ETA that since I hated my BoK I tossed as we arrived at the hotel! No attachment there!Chat Icon

Re: Do you feel sentimental attachments to your wedding paraphernalia?

I am sentimental about a lot of the stuff, but it's wierd, I think it has more to do w/ my Mom than my DH.

My Mom did a lot of the wedding planning with me, paid for almost all of it, and her taste is reflected in much of it.

I moved upstate to be with DH after I got married, and I moved the following with me:

- Gown and Veil: Cleaned and preserved taking up an obscene amount of space in our guest closet.
- Invitation: Professionally matted and framed
- Boquet: Dried and on display in my entertainment center
- Returned RSVP cards
- Card Box (my Mom and I made it together)
- Cake Cutter (not sure where this is though)
- Tiara (in a box in my basement)

Re: Do you feel sentimental attachments to your wedding paraphernalia?

Sort of...

It took me exactly a year to get my dress cleaned.

I had a personalized runner and I just found it the other day and cant throw it out, so I am going to cut out the personalized part and hang it in the garage. Chat Icon

I love my album. but never had any prints made.

I can't think of anything I deliberately threw out, except for my bouquet, which I tossed to my then-future SIL.

Re: Do you feel sentimental attachments to your wedding paraphernalia?

Some things yes, but most no - but I was never really into wedding planning, etc. to begin with.

I did preserve my gown. My veil and tiara are around (not preserved) and not too attached to either. I had my shoes dyed for a wedding that I was in a few weeks later.

The only thing I am attached to is my wedding pictures/album. I have an absolutely beautiful album that is filled with pictures of my family and friends and I do like looking at to remember them all being with me. My photographer did a phenomenal job with it.

Other than that, I don't think I have anything else saved!

Re: Do you feel sentimental attachments to your wedding paraphernalia?

Nope not at all....

My boo-k is hanging upside down on a hook in my parents kitchen as with most of my other stuff.

My dress don't get me started.... I took it back to Macy's Bridal when we got back from our honeymoon. They put a faulty zipper when they did the alterations and it went off track 2 hours before me ceremony. When they asked me if I wanted it back, I told them to stick it where the sun don't shine.

I celebrated my 3 yr anniversary in July and I still have yet to pick the photos for my album or give Duet the songs for the video.

Re: Do you feel sentimental attachments to your wedding paraphernalia?

Hardly....my stuff is in a box in the attic. My dress is in a box in a closet. My bo-k, however, did dry out nicely and is on display in my china closet.

Re: Do you feel sentimental attachments to your wedding paraphernalia?

Sentimental attachment only to my dress. I would like to make something from it one day.
I do still have my shoes and tiara. Shoes I can use and the tiara I'll save in case DD or one of my nieces needs it for something (even a halloween costume)

eta: We are coming up on our 3 year anniversary soon and I only did my album 2 months ago!

WOW, I was beginning to think I was the only one.

I had my flowers preserved and framed, my dress cleaned and placed in a windowed box, and just about everything else wedding is preserved. It was a perfect day and all the things from that day put a smile on my face. I cherish them.

Re: Do you feel sentimental attachments to your wedding paraphernalia?

Nope, I'm the same as you.
My dirty wedding dress is laying in the bottom of a closet somewhere in the bag it came in. We never picked out pictures to make an album. My husband's family has even watched our wedding video more times than we have. (I think we saw it twice, once when we got it and once because my family wanted to watch it when we were over)
I was going to throw something out recently that was from our wedding and my husband got upset that I wanted to throw it out so I didn't.

I feel an attachment to the mood that day. The feeling I had in my mind and heart I will never forget. The rest is material and I could really care less about it.

this is exactly how I feel.

and it is THAT feeling. on THAT day. that has gotten me to where I am today.

everything else can go out with the bathwater.

Agree, except my veil. It was the one thing I totally (and probably stupidly) slurged on. I love it and many a drunk night I walk around the house with it on. Which may or may not annoy DH, depending on Chat Icon what I may or may not have onChat Icon

Re: Do you feel sentimental attachments to your wedding paraphernalia?

My gown is in the bag in came in, still filthy on the bottom from walking around DUMBO after it had rained, balled up on a shelf in our clothes room

Yup, but mines in the basement. I have my cake cutter and goblets.... my tiara, and the veil, as much as I love it, wound up in the basement too... I think the whole wedding thig faded so quickly from my mind since I was pregnant right after....

Re: Do you feel sentimental attachments to your wedding paraphernalia?

OH MAN...you are NOT alone in this........I always felt like the wedding was great, but my marriage was the most important thing and so I dd not go very over the top with the wedding.

Dress---- still has horse poop and pee on it Chat Icon It's hanging in the David's Bridal bag in the basement almost 4 months later
Flowres----- Don't EVEN get me started....I threw that trash out after they died. Such a HUGE dissapointmentChat Icon
Tiara, Purse, Toasting Flutes--- on display in our living room along with our Christmas ornament.

Most of this I have offered to others I know getting married because it really isn't that important to me. The only things I am in love with are my married bears, christmas ornament, purse and toasting flutes.......I'll save my dress in case we have a daughter, but if she wants to cut it up and use parts of it that's ok with me.....it is after all, just a dress I wore for 1 day........Chat Icon

Re: Do you feel sentimental attachments to your wedding paraphernalia?

I am sentimental towards some things more than others-

my gown- I never got it cleaned- it is still in a bag- I wont part with it but I didn't feel the need to have it cleaned-
although I did want to have my veil cleaned- I thought MAYBE my daughter could wear that?!?

My BOQ was tossed after the wedding-by the time I got home it was all old and dried up and ugly- threw it away

I have a beautiful album- we look at it sometimes- I love my video and still cry when I watch it- but it's been way over a month since the last time I saw it...

I have my cake cutter and knife- I loved it- it was a present from my aunt and uncle for our engagement gift- It is beautiful

my toasting glasses are the swarovski crystal ones and I LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM!

I have my headpiece, garter, hair pins, invitation in a shadow box- I do love my headpiece- I don't think I would let anyone borrow it at this point...daughter...neice...of course- lots of years from now

And my shoes- they were super comfy ... I should have them dyed black!

I almost forgot- my diamond earrings my DH bought me for our wedding day- I love them and wear them often- Other than thiose, I didnt wear any jewelry besides my rings
