Do you get angry when doctor's make you wait a while
I had a 10am appt. for a root canal at my regular dentist and here it is after 10:30. As if I wasn't anxious enough geez this always happens in this office. Hearing the staff talking about bs is making me madder. How long do you usually wait?

I have waited up to 3 hours. WHY because you would not want the dr. to say well i am sorry your time is up and I cant answer your questions or address your concerns anymore. NEXT. What if that person before you just found out they had something major wrong with them, WHAT IF IT WAS YOU? Would you want the dr to say that to you? I have seen it happen before. I stopped complaining then. So the next time you complain think of WHAT MIGHT be going on. Also If 1 PT is late to an appointment it makes the roll balling for everyone to be seen late. So try never to be the one who is going to be late and if you are call and let them know you are running late. ALSO 30 mins is NOT a long time. If you cant expect to sit and wait at a dr.s office then DONT GO. Sorry I deal with it all day long at work. I am tired of the complaining . If you cant wait then reschedule. MINIMUM TIME AT ANY DR IS 1 HOUR(walk in to walk out). Leave ENOUGH TIME between things to get stuff done.

That's your dentist. I know my dentist double books which is why I don't go there anymore.

I asked at the last dentist appt I went to. 30 minutes for cleaning. 1 hour for root canal.
2 appointments at the same time, 1 dentist, and 2 dental techs doing all the work. Dentist comes in to check cavaties and do major work. All cleaning happens by the dental techs.
So, I've NEVER waited for my dentist to call me in, and I've been going to him since I was 3! My immediate family goes, and they have never waited either. I wish all doctors offices were like this. Wishful dreaming.

I am FUMING!!!! I went up to the desk to tell them I was leaving, got ignored so I left. I just went back in b/c I didn't want to be charged for a no show or something. Of course they said they came out right after I left. I'm not paying a babysitter to sit in a f'ng waiting room for an Hour!!!!!

30 hour would be a joy if that is all i had to wait - EVERY doctor i go to is a minimum of an hour wait sometimes two. I don't understand it!

I feel like 1/2 an hour is sort of normal wait time now. Anything more than that without some sort of apology or explanation by the staff is just plain rude (other patients were late, dr got held up somewhere else etc).
Yes, i expect to be in a dr's office for an hour, but MY time is just as valuable as anyone else's - and to be treated like it isn't is insulting.
Yes, things happen with other patients, but all it takes is an explanation from the receptionist or other staff to the people waiting, and then people might be a little more patient (ha, no pun intended  )
I've had 2 dr's i stopped going to because they were chronically late. My gyno used to have evening hours on Wednesdays.. so i'd still have to leave work early to get to his office for a 7:00 appt, then sit in his waiting room for an hour to an hour and a half before even seeing him. Never an explanation or apology from the office staff, so i stopped going there.

I never have to wait at the dentist, I always have to wait at dr appts. i consider a 30 minute wait standard but anything more than that starts to annoy me.

I hardly wait at my dentist.
I just had a check up a few weeks ago and they called and asked if I can come in later because there was an emergency.
I actually thought that was good they did that rather than have me come in and wait!
If I couldn't come in later, than, I wouldve just rescheduled.

My very first job was as a receptionist at a doctor's office. This guy made people wait 2 hours.......I kid you not. And yes, we used to double book people ALLLLLL the time. He couldn't care less because he wasn't the one being yelled at

But if a particular dr's office is consistently running late, then you would think they would perhaps allot longer time for patients. It is a scheduling issue if people are consistently waiting an hour or more to see the dr.

Not all doctors and dentists are like this. Of course, I've had to wait sometimes but the majority of the time, I do NOT have to wait. I'd like to think it has something to do with time management. Not to say that your dentist's office doesnt have good time management skills, but mine have excellent ones.

OK - so maybe they don't doublebook patients. But some of the time it is still not the fault of the patient.
If I am the first patient of the day, my appointment shouldn't be 20 minutes late when I arrive 10 minutes EARLY. That is not a problem caused by the patient.

Ditto... every single dr ive ever been to except for the eye doctor... ive had to wait...
ETA: not having to wait is the exception to the rule for me lol

I get antsy at the 20 minute mark, annoyed at 30 minutes, angry at 45 minutes and I am out the door at 60 minutes. If there is some sort of backup or an emergency, it should be communicated to patients waiting - let them choose if they want to wait or reschedule.

Two hour waits at my OB, regular doctor and the ped.
My dentist is usually about an hour
I have TRIED to change doctors. However, either the wait is the same or I HATE the doctor.
My parents have waited 3+ hours for their doctor, same office that I go to but a different doctor.
