Re: Do you go to church??
Posted by CaseyGirl
Used to every sunday....fell away from the Catholic church because I would like to explore spirituality and community involvement vs. rules...so I am still looking for the right place. But I still pray every day!
I'm right there with ya.......I believe but i'm looking for a church that is right for me, and not based on what my parents believe. DH has major issues with religion(?) since his father is a Lutheran minister

Re: Do you go to church??
I go on Christmas Eve to appease MIL.
Otherwise, I don't go. I don't believe in organized religion and consider myself agnostic.

Re: Do you go to church??
We slacked for a while. My husband takes my son every Sunday. While I stay home with my daughters. There is no way the girls will sit still & quiet for an hour.

Re: Do you go to church??
I don't go every week, but I go now more than I ever have. I like to go to mass before work in the mornings, at least once a week if I can. I haven't gone in a while, sometimes I lose my faith for a bit when something terrible happens. But I always find my way back.

our kids go to religion and are baptised we are catholic we do not attend church
That's how I grew up. We went to church once every few months. My dad was raised in a strict Irish Catholic household (might I add, very stereo-typical Irish Catholic household) and my mom didn't really grow up with religion but they decided that we would go to religious educ. and that was that.

Re: Do you go to church??
I just found a church and we are going. In fact we're taking an Alpha Marriage class that is pretty awesome. There are folks that have been married 37 years taking the class and couples that just got married. Anywho, I think of church as bonding with my family and friends and building my Christian 'support' as much as I think about it as a one on one spiritual opportunity.

Re: Do you go to church??
Yes, we all go to church together on Sunday morning. We are very active in our church. DH runs the sound board for the worship ministry and I generally help where I can. DD goes to nursery, but will most certainly be brought up in Sunday School. We LOVE our church in Calverton. It is fun, the minister is SOO easy to listen to, the messages are so relavent to me and it's an awesome place to be!

Weddings, funerals, and Baptisms.
This is the same for DH & I. We both are Roman Catholics but don't feel we have to go to church to be good practicing Catholics. We still observe all the holy holidays & we do our own prayers at home

Re: Do you go to church??
I grew up Roman Catholic and DH is Lutheran. We do not go to church on a regular basis..only when we need too. I do not feel that I need to go to church every week to be close to God. I just try to be a good person everyday and live by the values my parents instilled in me, not the church.

Re: Do you go to church??
No, we don't. In fact,we've lived in our house for almost a whole year now and we still don't even know where the closest Catholic church is.
We never went to church when I was growing up, it and religious ed classes were completely foreign to me. Long story, but my dad wanted us to choose our own religions. When I got to HS my mom started to take me and my brother, and we finally received our sacraments. There are a lot of things that we don't agree with and so Kevin and I got married outside of church. When we have a baby they will be baptized, maybe we'll start attending then.

Ditto-I grew up in the Catholic Church, my DH is methodist(I think-never practiced just baptized) We struggle about what we will do when we have a baby. I'd like to do a blessing ceremony in my backyard where we welcome the baby into the world and promise to teach morals and values. I feel Christenings(if you are not religous) are a little weird since you have to promise to show your child the ways of the church

Re: Do you go to church??
My mother used to make me go to Catholic mass...I went to Catholic school for 9 years. Once she couldn't make me go..I stopped.
Then I went to a Christian church for a baptism and felt an instant connection...now I go every Sunday..sometimes on weekdays and teach twice a week during service in Children's church.
My DH joins me when he wants to. And I will be bring my DC when he/she is born with me.
I also believe that its the way you live your life that's important. But at the same time I feel refreshed when I attend service which gives me some peace to deal with the everyday hassle of the week to come

Re: Do you go to church??
Every sunday..
When we lived in LI, the church that we attended we were very involved in. I ran the youth group with one other woman and I also assisted our Pastor with the Confirmation class every year. DH was on the finance committee and also helped out with projects that needed to be done around the church and parsonage..
Our new church up here in Mass is VERY different. Everyone is over 60 so we're having a little harder time fitting in but it's still nice to be there and worship with other people..

Re: Do you go to church??
nope. Ever since we moved South, everything is Baptist. The nearest Catholic Church is about 1/2 hour away, and I'll be totally honest: I don't feel like driving that far! But once we have children, we'll start going more "religiously".
