i get really scared. even when he is coming home! like now- since im alone i feel very vulnerable.
when he is gone for a night, i set the alarm, leave the kitchen light on and the hall way lights and i lock the bedroom door. i also have my phone with me.
i even get scared to get up in the middle of the night to pee- i know, weird.
it helps when i have a few drinks and keep myself occupied, though.
but still, i have being nervous/anxious

I definitely don't enjoy it, but I manage!
DH is going away for three weeks - leaving tomorrow!
I plan on just double-checking the door locks to make myself feel a little better.

I love it when my husband isn't home. 
My husband is on a rotating shift schedule so he works 4 midnights in a row and i get the bed all to myself.  LOVE it!
I live in a small, quiet neighborhood and i don't worry about being home alone. Probably because even if my husband is home and i hear something during the night, i'm the one to go downstairs and check it out anyway while he's sound asleep!  I'm my own protector!

Dh has never gone away and left me home alone, but I'm home alone a lot between his work schedule and his being down at the fire house a lot. I am a big baby and hate being home alone. I always carry the phone with me. If it's night time and he has to leave for an alarm, I have to turn the tv on. I always have the tv on, even if I'm not watching it, so I don't feel so alone. The door stays locked and I make sure I have easy access to DHs baseball bat!

My DH travels for business.
He had to go on a weeklong trip when the DC's were 10 days old It was his company's trade show so he couldn't get out of it.
I had my IL's to help but I'd be lying if I didn't say it s u c k s. Now that I'll be returning to work in Sept and the kids will be old enough to miss daddy, yeah, that's when I wish he didn't have to.
Before DC's, I didn't mind, I didn't cook and got the remote all to myself

That is exactly how I am!
I am actually a lot better now because I live in a high rise apartment building with a doorman. I rationalize that no one is coming through my 16th floor window, they have to get through the doorman first, and there are about 250 apartments filled with people so someone is going to hear me if I scream!

No, I actually like it! I just lock the door, kick back and relax. Eat what I want, when I want. I get to have the remote control. I let the cat on the couch. I lived by myself for 12 years before him, so it doesn't bother me in the least.

DH works nights a lot so I'm used to it.
After a few consecutive nights - or too many nights alone in a single week, I get a little lonely though!

Yep.. FH hardly is gone but when he is I have all lights on in the living room and kitchen and my door is shut.. with the light on in the master bathroom

Yes. I am a big baby. I hate sleeping in my apt without him. Once I even stayed at my in laws because I am such a baby.

NOPE, not at all. I like not having to worry about cooking or fighting over what to watch on TV, being able to go to sleep early having the whole bed to myself, lights low, candles burning and peace and quiet once the kids are sleeping. Of course he rarely goes away though.

During the day im ok, but at night when I go to sleep I have a hard time. I wake up every couple of hours b/c I swear there is someone in my house

I am used to it DH doesnt get home until 12am. I dont like it but i dont get scared either. I sleep with a knife near my bed.
