This is an ongoing argument for us.

Re: Do you let your kids stay up on NYE?
Mine are too little now, but I remember staying up when I was younger (7,8,9+) and it was SOOOO fun and exciting so I will be allowing them when they are that age.

DS is too young (17m), but I woke him up at midnight last year for a kiss. He went right back to sleep.

Re: Do you let your kids stay up on NYE?
Til midnight? For the ball to drop? I don't know that I've made it the past few years If we have plans, I'd have no problem with letting them stay up "later" but til midnight - hellz no.

Re: Do you let your kids stay up on NYE?
Nope...we have a "celebration" that starts earlier, like 5:30-6:00ish with snacks and a special movie, then they go to bed at their normal time. We usually have friends over later, but for my girls, its important for them to stick to their schedule or they are miserable the next day.

Re: Do you let your kids stay up on NYE?
Not yet. My DS turns into such a beast if he's up much past his usual bedtime.
We do a countdown about a half hour before they go to bed with noisemakers and all that and then they go to bed.

Same. My girls are 3.5 and 5 and I can't imagine letting them stay up until midnight when they're in bed normally around 7:45. Plus I'm a SAHM, so at a certain point, I just can't anymore...

Re: Do you let your kids stay up on NYE?
We had friends over our house last year and we did let DD stay up (she was 3.) We were nervous that she'd turn into a beast, but she was great. She loved it and then went to bed with no problems. We'll see what happens this year...

Re: Do you let your kids stay up on NYE?
DD is 2.5 and I have no intention of letting her stay up late - she probably wouldn't make it anyway - She was exhausted on xmas and we kept her up till 9 - then again - she doesn't nap anymore ( )

Yes! last year Noah stayed up until 1.30 am, and had a blast! He woke up at like 9 am the next morning, and he was fine.

Re: Do you let your kids stay up on NYE?
prior to this year I don't think he could have physically stayed up that late.
At 3.5, this year I will allow him to stay up that late if he can but we're going to be home and it will be just us so he'll probably be sleeping anyway. But I'll let him fall asleep in my bed and give him a kiss at midnight.

I think if they're old enough to stay up, then yes. I don't think that happens until around 7 or 8 though....

Re: Do you let your kids stay up on NYE?
We are having 2 families over on NYE.
DS (1 year) will be passed out at his normal time-7:30 or 8.
We are planning on letting DD (3.5) stay up with all of the other kids. She is the youngest though. If she turns into a beast we will ship her off to bed.

Re: Do you let your kids stay up on NYE?
Definitely. DS is 3 this NYE and has stayed up every NYE since he was born! He always has the best time! DH and I were trying to decide what to do this year now that we also have an 11 month old and we will be doing the same - I don't want to deprive them of the fun!
That said, my kids are usually up late - though, obviously not THAT late - their bedtime is around 9:30/10 - also, when they go to bed late they always sleep in the next day so that makes it easier!

Re: Do you let your kids stay up on NYE?
They are too little to understand the excitement of it so no. It would serve no purpose at 4 years old and 20 months old. They will have many years of NYE's to stay up.

Re: Do you let your kids stay up on NYE?
ALWAYS. But she goes to bed late every night anyway. Around 9 30. She goes to bed RIGHT AFTER the ball drops. So yea..she stays up and has never missed midnight yet. LOL

Re: Do you let your kids stay up on NYE?
I havent so far but DS loves his sleep and will ask to go to bed. I dont think he'd make it even if he wanted to. I do let him stay up later than normal.

Re: Do you let your kids stay up on NYE?
Not till he really gets what it's about. Right now he's 19 months. We're going to a friend's party, but staying till DS gets cranky. He is usually sleeping by 7 - 7:15PM. If we're out we'll try and keep him up till 8:30 - 9ish. I'll bring PJ's for him in case he falls asleep on the way home (although they're really only 3 minutes away)
Like other posters said... when he's around 6, 7, etc... I'll let him stay up b/c he'll understand it more.

Re: Do you let your kids stay up on NYE?
We counted down to bedtime (8pm) in the years past. Noisemakers, streamers, etc.
Now we let them stay up (7 & 9 yo).

Exactly. We are usually at my sister's. The first year I think she conked out at 11 something...last year she stayed up and conked out as soon as got in the car...this year I'm sure DD#1 will stay up again but not sure about DD#2.
