Do you make a special breakfast on Christmas Morning?
If so, what is it?
It's only 3 of us, so I don't want to make a huge breakfast casserole or anything, but I thought it would be a nice tradition to start making a special Christmas morning breakfast.
Any ideas of something easy, maybe prep ahead, that i can scale down for 3 people?

Re: Do you make a special breakfast on Christmas Morning?
DH loves French Toast so Is usually make either stuffed French toast or a French toast "bake" (prep the night before). Sausage, bacon and fruit on the side and mimosas for us!!
In the past I have done eggs benedict with a potato dish (there is a parmesan potato pancake that Giada does that is awesome) or some other sort of "fancy" egg dish.
We stay home all day so I like making a nice big breakfast for us to all enjoy.

We always had cinnamon toast on Christmas morning as kids. Now we do something substantial but we still include cinnamon toast for the tradition. Doesn't get much easier to make either.

Re: Do you make a special breakfast on Christmas Morning?
We started doing the french toast casserole, but weren't too excited for it. Though I could go for it right now...
For the past couple of years a simple sausage & cheese strata has been a huge hit! Like the french toast casserole we prepare it the night before, it sits in the refrigerator overnight & then we pop it in the oven while DS opens up his gifts. When we're done - breakfast is ready!

We make a nice breakfast, just the 3 of us. Coffee, oj, we bake bacon in the oven, usually a quiche or strata, and then something sweet like coffee cake.

Re: Do you make a special breakfast on Christmas Morning?
Growing up my mom always made these Christmas Treasure Buns. They're assembled in a bundt pan. Its Pillsbury Grands rolls, split in half with a piece of cream cheese in the center, then rolled in butter, then in cinnamon sugar, and then in chopped walnuts and orange zest. Then placed side by side in the bundt pan and baked until the tops are sticky and the cream cheese center is melted.
OH.MY.GAWD was it amazing! But DH isn't a huge fan of cream cheese, so at our house on Christmas morning I just make the Pillsbury cinnamon rolls.

Re: Do you make a special breakfast on Christmas Morning?
I have my parents over, and it's me, DH, and DS. Yes, I make a special breakfast. I've done gingerbread waffles, Ina Garten's baked blintzes with blueberry sauce, baked almond French toast, ham and eggs baked in muffin tins with hash browns or spinach Florentine.
I always do fruit, mimosas, some kind of coffee cake. I try to make it a little fancy (use the good dishes).
If you want to do a more casual breakfast, I think some sort of flavored waffles (pumpkin, gingerbread, chocolate chip) would be fun and you can just make the amount you need, or make a big batch and freeze the rest.
Or one big pancake baked in the oven - Check out Melissa D'Arabian's Vanilla Dutch Baby recipe on Food Network (can top with fruit).
I saw a recipes for egg nog French toast bake on pinterest... looked yummy.
With the sweet dishes, make brown sugar bacon on the side (dredge bacon in brown sugar and bake in oven).
For more savory, I've done bisquick's impossibly easy bacon and egg pie. You can make it a day ahead.
Or to make it easy, you can make a coffee cake ahead of time (I love Williams-Sonoma's raspberry sour cream coffee cake, for example), and some muffins, and buy some bagels or mini bagels and do more of a continental breakfast with fruit, etc. Maybe you can make a specialty compound butter... Ina Garten has some recipes for cinnamon honey butter and that type of thing. And she also has a good smoked salmon spread that would be nice on bagels.

Re: Do you make a special breakfast on Christmas Morning?
Just eating a cooked (not cereal or yogurt) breakfast in our house is special, but this year we are having my in-laws over so I am making a full brunch including these pancake muffins that seem pretty easy. You could put mini chocolate chips in them to make it more of a special treat.
I'm a dork & actually have a Christmas tree muffin pan, so I might make some in that.

It's only 3 of us too but we always do a special breakfast. I make pancakes in the shapes of snowmen and reinderr. My DH makes cinnamon rolls too. For Thanksgiving breakfast I made a french toast bake and it was very good.

Yes. Cinnamon rolls.
The only time we have them all year. It's like dessert for breakfast... tons of frosting.
The kids really look forward to them. I just get the ones in the can.

Re: Do you make a special breakfast on Christmas Morning?
We sit down and eat breakfast together. That's just about the only thing special about it. But since we never do that, I think just sitting down together for that particular meal is nice.
We'll have omelettes, bacon, and toast.
Oh...the other special thing is that DH cooks breakfast on Christmas morning, which also very rarely happens!

It's only 4 of us....so I stopped making monkey bread, cause I'd eat it all Now I do pilsbury cinnamon rolls. An egg frittata that can cook while we unwrap. I made homemade marshmallows, so the girls will have that in cocoa.
