I never used to bring them back. I would just do curbside recycling. However, DH's family always saved up a large amount and redeemed them. We usually wait until we have 3 large garbage bags full in the garage, and then redeem them. We end up with about $15. Now that we pay the deposit on water bottles, it will be a lot more, b/c I go through a lot of them (please, no lectures about switching to reusable water containers ). Also, DH drinks a ton of soda, so it pays for us to bring them back.

We have recycling here in Lancaster, but we're not happy about the fact that our trash hauler ONLY recycles #1/#2 plastic/glass/metal/newspapers/magazines. What about other plastics and cardboard/cereal box type? We've been told they're not equipped to handle the other stuff. Mary

i actually wish we did do this. honestly, its out of pure laziness that we dont.

We take DS to return them. He keeps the money and puts in a jar at home. He is saving to buy a new video game.

We return them too. If we return at the grocery store we put it towards the bill. If we return them to the distributor we just buy more beer if e have an event coming up.

No. I give them to my grandfather and he redeems them.

I'm thinking about it. I could use the extra $$ but I don't have the follow through. We do put them out with the recycling though.

Always. I have tons of soda cans, water bottles, etc. I feel like I'm doing something good for the environment & I paid for the deposit already when I bought the drinks so why not get it back? DH & I started doing this back when we were poor (well, poorer than we are now) college students & have kept it up over the years.

We do. We drink a lot of pop so it does add up...

And, of course, I did just say 'pop'.

In Michigan... they're worth a dime a piece.

I paid for a trip to Florida when I was in college by taking back cans we picked up at tailgate parties for a few weeks.

I do but only when I have accumulated enough bottles/cans.

ETA: Sometimes I have a pile of cans/bottles and they just sit on my back step

Yes! At 25 Euro cents for plastic bottles, I sure do! I drink a lot of bottled water. Glass bottles are only 8 Euro cents, so I just keep them along with the plastic since I'm going to return it anyway.
