Re: Do you serve alcohol at an afternoon first bday party?
I think it's a personal thing... we had a backyard bbq, so we had beer and wine. If I had it at a place and had to pay extra for drinks I wouldn't have done it.
IMO, it's a first birthday party and it's not necessary to have alcohol.

I just did DD's first b-day party at my parents' house yesterday. We had soda, water, beer, wine, frozen mudslides and pina coladas.

I have hard liquor in my cabinets if anyone wants but never put it out.
I always serve soda, few different types of beers, wine and some Mike's Hard Lemonade.

We had it at a resturant afternoon and did open bar..I think it is nice to offer but not required. Its a personal decision and you know your family best, do they usually drink or not?
