Theirs closed, ours open!
Not only bec I heard it was safer, but
also I would be so afraid they would wake up with phone calls, our tv or us just walking by! Our monitors pick up their breathing, I dont doubt I will hear if anything is wrong!

Open a little bit! And I stopped using the baby monitor because of that.

I can hear him so much better that way (TRUST me... your DC crying will wake you up).

Our door is open, his is shut. No need for him getting up any earlier then he does. We have a monitor, and since we share a wall, i can hear him even without the monitor.

our door is open, but only because the cat's litter box is in our bathroom. but DS's door is closed. I don't want him to hear anything and i don't want the cat going in there.

For now, both are open. We are going to start closing their door soon. We are so paranoid that they are going to climb out of their cribs and crawl out into the hallway (and then fall down the stairs). Unlikely, but that's our fear!

Usually both our doors are open, but lately we have been pulling her shut (leaving it slightly open) so the heat stays in her room.

I can always hear her, I am a light sleeper.

ETA - also in the summer only when the ACs are on, both doors are closed. I keep the monitor on all night then.

Hers is closed and mine is closed.
I hear every sound she makes on that video monitor anyway.

Jack's door is closed but a crack when he goes to bed. We open it before we go to sleep. Both of the boys' rooms have no heat registers so we leave all doors open with the ceiling fans circulating the heat.

We always had doors closed because we had an annoying barking dog.

we close both our door and his. this way in the morning he doesn't wake up when we are getting ready for work, lights on in the hallway, etc.

the video monitor is great!

Re: Do you sleep with your and dc doors opened or closed?

I remember that fear.

I can't leave her door open though because of our cats (bigger fear) so I used to keep it cracked open with a shoe to prevent the cats from pushing it open.

Now its closed. Its better for her because its darker and quieter with the door closed (in my mind)

But yeah, it took a bit of getting used to.

MY door is open. Again, cats. They use our bench as a lounge area.

DS's door is closed until we go to bed, it gets too hot in his room.

Ours is always open

DS' door is closed. Our door is open or ajar. The video monitoor is enough and if I have any doubts I go into his room and check on him.

Re: Do you sleep with your and dc doors opened or closed?

Both are always closed due to the risk of fire.

My house burned down about 10 years ago. Had I not had my door closed, I would have died from smoke inhalation (it was overnight and the smoke detectors failed)

for 6 months our DS would wake at the same time, like 4 AM every morning in hysterics . One day I decided to get up and watch him to see what the issue was ( he didn't want his bottle) it was the damn cat scratching and playing with the dust ruffle on his cribChat Icon Chat Icon
