He did hire an attorney, and can be sued for neglect if someone comes forward as someone who contracted the TB from him, but this seems like a pre-emptive measure to me even though he is already ill & aware of it.

so after he infects someone with a deadly non-curable disease, only then is he considered a criminal? sorry, he belongs where he is. I just hope that they build him a special area with a shower and all the entertainment he wants.

Well technically yes. Not saying that I agree with it but pre-emptive action should not automatically be considered criminal b/c technically it is not...that is why I think a quarantine was in order, but not the treatment he is getting...KWIM?

ETA: If this should become a criminal issue, which can be argued all day & night (Chat Icon ) then the legislation needs to change. That is my point, I think....

he is in a prison but is not a criminal.

he is there b/c that facility has the room and the ventilation system that can support his disease.

most likely, it was the only place where he could be held and motiored over the long term.

a hospital does not have the resources or the room to house him permanently.

I would imagine, that if he had the cash to have a ventilation system built into his home, they would reconsider his indefinite stay with the govt.

don't let the wordage sway your view. He is not convicted of a crime. it's a bad situation, and I am sure they had to figure out the best thing to do.

we seem to be overlooking the fact that he was afforded the ability to live at home, with the restriction that he wear a mask in public. Up to this point. it seems pretty fair/agreeable.

it was when HE disregarded his docs orders that the issue became what it is. to me, he is the only truly liable party.

That isn't the appropriate punishment. They should order him to wear a mask and put him on probation. I understand the concern for the health and safety of others, but what about his health and safety that seem to be going by the wayside while he is locked up in jail?

he is not being PUNISHED.

and NO, there is no second chance when you put society at such risk. I am sorry.

I am all for human rights, but when you flagrantly disregard them, and then put it off to "ignorance" you cannot be trusted. no way.
