Do you think this is a nice gift from a godfather for a baby christening?
A money gift in the amount of $100 from godfather and wife and an adult religious charm with adult necklace.
I figured it would be best not to get a small childrens cross and necklace. This way there is more use out of it.
Do you think this is enough or he should do more?
If you can please recommend jewelery stores too if you can.

the $100 is very nice
But isn't there a good chance that an adult neckalce would get "lost in the shuffle" by the time the baby is old enough to wear it?
And, there is no guarantee that he will be into necklaces?
I know that there is an obligation to get something religious when you are a Godparent.. I wish there was something more practical though....

I think that's a nice gift but I would take the money for the necklace and just add it in to your cash gift if I were you. We gave a large check for DH's godson.

ITA. I don't know any men who wear crosses. We gave our goddaughter a cross basically just to wear for the christening--could you ask the parents if they need a cross for the christening? If not, I wouldn't bother.

Re: Do you think this is a nice gift from a godfather for a baby christening?
We gave my niece a bond, which doubled the value of the money. We gave a lot, but it was because my sister named both myself and my DH as godparents.
I agree that I would just add the money of the necklace and maybe purchase a bond if you can. I understand the sentimental part of the necklace, but I agree it may get lost in the years before he can where it. You're DH will always be his godfather, he can always get that when the child is a little older.

IMO, I would do a savings bond. Take the 100.00 and give a 200.00 dollar savings bond.

Or instead of a bond, invest it in a 529 plan for the baby.

I think that's a fine gift.
FTR, my dad wears his celtic cross everyday, so I don't think that's a bad idea.

Re: Do you think this is a nice gift from a godfather for a baby christening?
I think the money is fine but I would just get a children's cross. I think that most parents would like it for the christening day and I know that I have always heard of giving a cross to a godchild.
You can get a small inexpensive on if you would like. I plan on getting an "adult cross" for my goddaughter for her confirmation.
(my family wears crosses every day - male and female, so I guess it depends on the family)
