Re: Do your/DH's parents have baby stuff at their own home? (VENT)
I keep all of the things i can't keep at my parents house - so there are plenty of toys for him there. I also bought a booster seat for him that we keep there - and they have a crib. Oh - and they had a bouncy there too.
I bring a ton of toys with me when I go though bc I bring what he's interested in now.
I keep a bag of toys in the car bc we are always going to family's house so it's just easier.
Also - my parents house in Savannah - my mom just bought him TONS of toys that we will keep there.
They do not have bowls, spoons, etc there - I bring all of that when I go.
ETA: My inlaws have a lot of toys there from previous grandchildren but I still bring Jack's toys. Alot of them are not good for his age right now. I also bring my bowls, spoons etc if he needs to eat when we are there.

Re: Do your/DH's parents have baby stuff at their own home? (VENT)
We gave both parents a car seat.
My MIL watches her 3-5 days a week. They have a highchair (she had from her niece's child she sometimes watched)
a swing (same as above) a bouncer (we bought for them) an exersaucer (we bought) PNP (we bought) some toys (we bought) I gave her spoons, a bowl & a sippy
My Mom watches her 2 days a week most weeks
I bought a booster seat for her, the PNP (my SIL gave), a travel swing (we bought). They have some toys (she bought).
I also give them both a big bag of diapers so I don't always have to bring w/ me daily

DD is only 8 weeks old, but my mom has nothing at her house. I know she would expect me to provide whatever DD needed... I doubt my mom would go out and buy anything herself. IL's don't have anything, but DD has only seen them once.

Re: Do your/DH's parents have baby stuff at their own home? (VENT)
We go to my FIL a lot, he's 80 and well, we bring or have given him things to keep at the house for DS. We leave toys there, ones that he has given to DS as presents, and when DS was using a booster seat we have one that was handed down to us over there. FIL always has food that DS likes there for him, including having Apple Juice. We've left childrens utensils there as well. I have the best FIL! Unfortunately, I never met my MIL.
My Mom doesn't live anywhere near here (2 plane rides away, ) But she definitely has things in her house for DS to use, even though he's only been there twice. Even a car seat, which she also uses for her niece/my cousin. She alwyas brings things for him when she comes, or mails things throughout the year.
My Dad lives out in Nassau, and DS has stayed over there. He and his GF have what DS needs. They purchased a high chair for him, they have childrens tablewear, toys and always have the food DS likes on hand. I only have to bring the pack n play.
I've never expected anyone to have these things for DS, but it does help. I say if they don't do it on there own and you visit a lot ask if you can get some stuff to leave there to help make the trip over easier.

Re: Do your/DH's parents have baby stuff at their own home? (VENT)
I'm 2 hours away from both sets of parents. My parents bought a porta crib and PNP and my IL's have a highchair, porta crib and PNP too, and all those weren't purchased til my 1st DD was at least 6 months old. I leave one of my booster seats at my moms.
THey dont' have any supplies though, i bring all those with me when we go there, i don't expect them to have spoons, diapers, wipes etc.
ETA: My MIL works at a private preschool/kindergarden that has daycare so all her stuff was hand me down. Maybe your IL's can try craigslist, there's tons of newer stuff on there for alot less money than BRU.

Neither my parents or my IL''s have any baby items at their house. I do not expect them to. I just make sure I bring what I need with me, it comes with the territory.

My kids have never even been to my moms house (and she lives 15 mins away), needless to say, she doesn't have anything. My dad & stepmom have 1 toy for them at their house and both sets of inlaws (out of state) have nothing. Honestly, I dont care. I am used to lugging everything everywhere. Thank god for the minivan.

Re: Do your/DH's parents have baby stuff at their own home? (VENT)
It completely amazes me that we all come from different backgrounds. Since my parents became grandparents 21 years ago, I assumed every other grandparent was like them and went out and bought many things for the home for when kids came to visit. But, they always made sure it always folded up, or didn't take up much room. I thought my MIL was NOT the norm. Now I'm seeing there is no norm.

Re: Do your/DH's parents have baby stuff at their own home? (VENT)
My parents have anything our kids could want at their home. This was their choice - my mom loves going to rummage sales for toys and she will pick up other things from friends, neighbors, us or the store(she always makes sure she has baby and toddler snacks around).
DH's family is a bit different - our children are the late ones, so if there is anything - it's for older kids. I don't mind though - since we will bring what we need, but it is nice to just bring the kids to my parents without a thought of packing anything (with the exception of maybe milk?)

My parents live in FL. I've only visited with DD once. But they have lots of toys, a booster seat, and other "supplies." Alot of it is from my nieces & nephews. It was great - all new toys to DD. She loved playing with "new" stuff.

Re: Do your/DH's parents have baby stuff at their own home? (VENT)
Thank God my mother lives next door! She's got more stuff at her house than I do...LOL. We have a tiny apartment. She has a big basement. So the travel swing, PNP, exersaucer, etc...all the big stuff were at her house.
We kept what we really needed in our apartment, which was the bouncy seat. My mom always had the highchair because I would put DS on the bed, prop him up against pillows and fed him that way until he was able to sit on the booster seat, which is what we have used. My mom has everything...except diapers... I am always supplying those. She gets the wipes... She says she's confused on what to get and what size cuz she doesn't understand much English...
But I am sooooooooo grateful for her being next door. Otherwise I don't know what I would have done with all the big stuff.
My MIL really doesn't have much except for some wipes. But I don't expect her too because her apartment is have the size of mine and barely has enough space for her own furniture. It's ok because we are not out there often because she comes into Queens more than we go out there.

Re: Do your/DH's parents have baby stuff at their own home? (VENT)
My MIL wants to start caring for DS when she retires in a few months, so she has been getting quite a collection of stuff to have at her house. I think it's so nice. Much of it is not knew, friends etc.. gave to her, but she has cleaning OCD, so it's LIKE new byt he time she is done with it.
Makes life easier for us. She even has a crib in a spare bedroom!
Any my parents have a lot of stuff because they have 10 grandchildren, so someone is always over... I am fortunate for this, don't always have to lug everything.

Re: Do your/DH's parents have baby stuff at their own home? (VENT)
My mother bought a fully stocked nursery for my son! She had her own stroller, pack and play, dressing table.. the works!
My MIL couldn't be bothered when they were babies. She had nothing. She did eventually go out and get a baby gate when they started crawling because she didn't want them falling down the stairs. I brought EVERYTHING with me. And we went EVERY SINGLE WEEK. So - yeah - fun Sundays. Now she has plates and cups for them though.

Re: Do your/DH's parents have baby stuff at their own home? (VENT)
My son does not go to my mother's or MIL's homes very often, however they both have most of what he needs there for him when he does. I provided everything he needs for my mother's house... Stroller, gates, diapers, wipes, clothes, bottles, etc... My MIL has things from her other grandchildren so I didn't have to give her anything... I always bring my own food, clothes, bottles, diapers, etc...

My inlaws have a highchair and a bouncy seat that their neighbors gave to them when they found out I was expecting. MIL bought a couple of books and a puppet... there are no diapers, or utensils or anything like that... we bring what we need. They live 5 mins away from us.

Re: Do your/DH's parents have baby stuff at their own home? (VENT)
we don't see my IL's as often as my parents (my parents are 4 blocks away). IL's have a bassinet and stroller which they've had from previous grandkids.
i left the bouncer and a booster/highchair seat at my mom's and diapers since we're there frequently but not every day etc. she doesn't have that much space for everything. However, since she is watching DD for a full day today - i also dropped off the exersaucer so DD has variety. its a hassle to schlep stuff but what can i do (except b*** to DH) .
