Does 4 month wakeful period apply to naps?
DD has been sleeping great at night-9 to 10 hours, but this past week, trying to get her to nap has been quite the challenge. I've been trying for the past hour and she's still fussing in her crib, not sleeping. I've tried every soothing trick I now. We're no longer swaddling because she's rolling in both directions, but that hasn't affected her nighttime sleep at all.
I usually follow the 2 hour rule--give or take by following her cues--and she used to go out after a few minutes of fussing. Now she's just boycotting all together,

Re: Does 4 month wakeful period apply to naps?
How many hours total is she sleeping per 24 hours?
DD sleeps about 13 hours a day (our girls are 1 day apart in age). Usually 7 hours overnight, then another 4 after her 4 am bottle, plus four (4) 30-minute naps during the day. I know when she's ready for a nap during the day, and there are days she'll skip one all together. I don't force her to nap, but I encourage it.

Re: Does 4 month wakeful period apply to naps?
I have been sort of wondering the same thing. My DD is 18 weeks and I have been following the 1 1/2- 2 hr of wakefulness rule which does seem to be working. She sleeps around 11-12 hrs at night and then takes about 4 45 min naps (sometimes it'll only be like 30 mins.) I am just clueless on how to make her nap longer, less often.
It seems to be going well but I was wondering if I am getting her used to sleeping such short naps and making a bad habit? I am assuming though that she'd sleep longer if she could?
Good luck and if you get some answers, I'd love to know!

Re: Does 4 month wakeful period apply to naps?
My guy fights sleep like that so I do at least one nap in the swing. I know they say don't, but my doc said it was fine. The swing rocks him to sleep before he gets fussy and over tired....

Re: Does 4 month wakeful period apply to naps?
Thanks guys. For a while we were on a roll with napping. She was going longer, 1 and 2 hours. Then she started going back to 30 min naps. That's fine if that's what she needs, but lately she's fighting me on that and gets cranky and whiny, so I know she needs it. After over an hour of trying in her room, I put her in the stroller and took her outside. As soon as we hit the pavement, she was out. I got about 45 mins that way. Then later, she slept in the car and for over an hour in the car seat when I got to my inlaws. I'm glad she got some sleep! I hope she gets back to wanting to nap in her crib soon.
