Does all of LI have oil heat?
...or are there towns with gas? I was flabbergasted when I read what you are paying per month for heat. Having lived in the boroughs for my entire adult life, I never realized how much we save because we have gas. We've been planning a move to LI in the near future and between the taxes and heating, I don't understand how anyone affords living there.

Does all of LI have oil heat?
I'm in Plainview. We have gas heat. I don't think oil vs. gas is a town by town thing, though.

My parents live in West Islip and have gas. It really depends on the area but there are plenty of places that use gas. AND you can have a home converted; that's what my landlords did. It really depends on whether or not there's a hook up in your area.

Does all of LI have oil heat?
I have gas im in Lindenhurst but having gas v oil has nothing to do with the towns. Its who ever paid to have the house converted from oil to gas. we paid to have our home converted to gas.
ETA: even if there is no gas in the area you can still pay to get your oil converted its just going to cost $$$$$$$

Definitely depends on the areas, but I don't think its town-specific. Just where gas lines exist, etc.

Definitely not town specific at all. My parents live in Farmingville and have gas. We used to live in Farmingville too but had oil. We live in Holbrook now and have gas.

Not town specific. We converted fromoil to gas last year. Many of our neighbors already had gas and some have oil. Can vary from house to house on the same street

We have gas here in holbrook but only a small percentage of the town has gas and it's fairly new with in the last 10 years. I know a lot of people on our block didn't switch to gas when nation grid was coming down our road with gas lines. They all regret that now. I know large parts of selden have gas because my mom few up there and we have lots of family around there.

next door neighbor gas
the other side of me oil & gas
so it varies house to house

We have oil. In Nassau county but the gas line is so far away, I don't see gas being on my block for a decade at least.

Some streets don't have gas lines close enough to the house to make it cost effective or maybe even possible to convert to gas heat.
I have gas heat and when we were house hunting, we did consider houses more attractive if they had gas heat - you can put that into your search when you are looking.

All of LI is not oil.
On my street some houses have gas, others have oil. We have gas but my next door neighbor has oil. Our house used to be oil but the previous owners converted many years ago.

it is not town specific at all. my parents have had their house for over 4 decades. they bought the house with gas. their surrounding neighbors all have oil.

We have gas, my neighbor across the street has gas (their neighbor on the left has oil) and the neighbor to the right of me has gas. My neighbor on the left has oil. Just depends if they converted or not.
