I actually cringe more when people try to impress others by using big words when they talk or write. When the words are misused, they just look dopey to me.

I concur. Indubitably. The juxtaposition of your statement is the epitome of garish unintelligence.

Misspelling absolutely drives me crazy. I correct it all day at school. I don't feel like correcting it during my leisure time.

Yes, and I hope this does not offend anyone because I see this quite a bit on LI...

It is spelled DRAWER not "DRAW" even if you pronounce it that way.

I cringe when people misspell things or misuse words. For example, my school hired a massage therapist to come and the nurse sent out 5 emails talking about the "message" therapist. Chat Icon Chat Icon I also hate when people misused the following words: "there" "their" "they're" "here" "hear" etc.Chat Icon Chat Icon

honestly, i don't really care. Not everyone is born to be Spelling Bee champs. I have better things to get piss ed off in life about then a mispelling of a word.

I have much better things to be ****** about too....i didn't say i got ******. I said i just cringed, that is all. I could care less about simple misspellings..just found it odd that a well educated mom who was a teacher spelled a word like that...it was actually funny to me, no harm in it, just a pretty bad error!

yeah cringed and pisssed is a bit different.

I spell most daily words wrong a lot, type too fast but when the word is butchered, I think its horrible.

I see too many crazy mistakes and I think its sad.

ITA...

DH is a highschool English teacher and when he's checking papers especially essays, I always hear him complaining about how some of the students mispell the easiest words in the world. It is annoying. He's shown me some of the spelling errors his students have made and they are horrible.

A computer typo is one thing but you are right, when a word is butchered it's horrible.

Based on her spelling she also mispronounces it. Hooked on phonics did not work for her.
