Does anyone else find this rude – regarding waiting in line to make a purchase?

Am I the only one who finds this rude? Today while standing in line at D&D for my coffee this lady walks right in grabs two newspapers, steps in front of me and leaves the exact amount of money on the counter.

When I entered the store I had 5-6 people in front of me so I stood in line for a while before it was my turn. I know how to make my own coffee and I had the exact amount too, so does this give me the right to go ahead of everyone else standing in line. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I was so annoyed, I said to the lady, “excuse me, there is a line” and she had the balls to look and me and roll her eyes.

People do that all the time in train stations--it kind of annoys me, but it has become standard practice.

I used to get my coffee at the same deli every morning and the owner told me not to stand online because I always had exact change. If it's not a small purchase/exact change situation, I would feel differently. But I don't really care otherwise.

I worked in a stationary store 13 yrs ago and people did that all the time when they bought the morning paper! I didn't mind if it was the paper..it is sort of help yourself anyway...

Nah it wouldn'T bug me. It would bug me more if she were waiting in line ahead of me for just a newspaper...when I'd rather she just put the fifty cents on the counter lol

I don't think this is rude. They are in a hurry- leaving exact change, no worries on my end.

I do think that it is rude. I don't care if you have exact change, wait in line like everyone else.

ITA. Normally stuff like that bugs me, but it's not like she needed to place a specific order, which is what everyone else was waiting in line for.

I wouldn't be annoyed by it.

actually you do.

I do this all the time at my mobil station (where I get my morning cup o' joe)

Also-- the guys know me in there... perhaps she's a regular.

if you think about it, it saves people time who would have been behind her, no?

I don't think it's rude b/c she's not inconveniencing you...

No, I don't find it rude either.

What I do find rude...when your are on line or being waited on and someone else comes up to the register to interrupt and ask a question.

I THINK ITS RUDE. I used to work at Genovese and people did it all the time on Sundays. It was worse when we got the scanners b/c then we had to remember what paper they took while ringing up the other people then go get what they took to scan it.

And just b/c everyone does it, doesn't mean its okay.

If you want the paper that quickly that you can't wait on line - get it delivered to your houseChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
