Re: Does anyone have a Garmin GPS?
We have a really high end one but i think that a more basic one would have been just fine. I like the fact that ours has bluetooth, although it doesn't work with my phone. That's due to my phone though, not the Garmin. My husbands phone works fine.

Re: Does anyone have a Garmin GPS?
My Mom has one, and honestly I find that my Tom Tom is easier to program.
For some reason hers is really difficult to type on...
However, the screen on hers is huge! I'm not sure which one she has, but it was from QVC and around $300 last Christmas.
QVC has a Tom Tom on Special Value sale today for $188.

we bought my Dad the Garmin 200W (or something like that) for Father's Day. it works - he doesn't use it that much, but he said he likes it

I have the Garmin Nuvi 200. Very simple to use and always comes in handy. Definitely would recommend it.

Re: Does anyone have a Garmin GPS?
Do you have to subscribe to anything to use it or do you just buy the unit and that is the only cost?
I'm trying to decide between a garmin and a tom tom (the ones that are mentioned above.)

Re: Does anyone have a Garmin GPS?
we have a Garmin Street pilot C580 (I'm pretty sure that's the #)....it got great reviews and it came with the MSN service free for a year (for traffic, nearby shopping, restaurants etc.), it also announces street names....I bought it last year online from Circuit City the day after Black Friday for $350 (regular price I think was $550-$600). we love ours, no complaints whatsoever. good luck w/ your research!

Re: Does anyone have a Garmin GPS?
I have a street pilot i5 It's pretty basic but it's very easy to use. It does not require a subscription but there are updates available. You can save favorites and home for easy programming. It also has a directory of local businesses which has come in handy. I havent got lost yet.

Re: Does anyone have a Garmin GPS?
DH and I are gadget hounds and research everything we buy before getting it.... We got the Garmin 750 and it's awesome so far! It's one of the newest models from last year and has loads of features but not the hefty price of the 800 series.
It has multi-destination feature which I find very handy. You can also use it to play music and it can give you traffic reports if you subscribe....
We got it for $500+ early this year and it's now on sale for $200 at Amazon.com or Costco so we got DH's parents one for Xmas. We LOVE it so far.

Kenneth has this one too - Well, it is a Garmin and it says Street Pilot but I don't know the numbers. It works great - we all use it a lot.

we have the garmin nuvi something or other... you have the option of subscribing so you can get traffic alerts in addition to your directions, but we chose not to.

Re: Does anyone have a Garmin GPS?
I have the garmin nuvi. it's great.
it shows the street names and tells you what street you are turning on.
you can also have it find restaurants, stores without an address. Which is great in a pinch.
You want "text to speech" so it tells you street names.
I used my friend's tom tom and found it very hard to follow. It would say turn left, but didnt show streets or names so a couple times I turned too soon.

Re: Does anyone have a Garmin GPS?
We have the Garmin StreetPoilot C550. It's a portable GPS.
It was a little more than we were looking to spend but my husband needed it for work and it had to provide commerical routes b/c he has commerical plates on his truck.
ETA: We're very happy with it.
