Does anyone have a problem fitting a new refrigerator in the opening?

I have a 21.7 CF refrigerator and no matter where I look, I cannot find a decent enough bigger size to fit in my opening for my refrigerator. I am not up to changing the cabinets, as we are not sure we are staying here for years to come and don't want to drop a lot for cabinets. But I have lived with this packed refrigerator and I don't get a new one because of this problem. Does anyone else have this problem? If you resolved it, how did you do it?

If it's not a lot of space, you can shave/trim the bottom of your cabinet to make the refrigerator fit. My parents had to do that a few years back. You'd never be able to tell that they did it either.

TOO FUNNY you responded to this! This was something I had in my mind. Yes, there are two cabinets about a few inches on top of the refrigerator and there is a bottom that is about an inch that might help me. Do you know if your parents hired someone to cut it down or how they did this? My DH is not handy.

My dad and grandfather did it. I think they just took some sort of power saw and cut off what they needed to. After it was done and the fridge was in, they put up a strip of molding, just to sort of even it with the cabinets next to it. I'll find out exactly what they used to saw the cabinet.

Thank you for all this info. This was something in my mind but I was unsure how to go about doing it.

Wish I could. We don't have a garage. Something I wish we had.
