Re: does *anyone* have kid(s) that sleep/slept in your bed?
my son sleeps with us for a good portion of the night. and we love it.
he is getting big and taking up more room, so eventually we will transition him, but not yet. we like our little furnace in the bed with us, even if for only a little while longer.
he sleeps in his crib for the first part of his night...which gives us enough um, quality time together without him.

Re: does *anyone* have kid(s) that sleep/slept in your bed?
DD who is now 4 1/2 slept in her cradle in our room until she was about 6 months - she used to come into our bed sometimes. Then when she turned 6 months and got too big for her cradle and would not settle in her crib we started co sleeping. She used to start off every night in her crib but would be in our bed around midnight and stay there until the AM.
We moved her into her own bed around 3 and she did great. Some nights she does come into our room and we have a mattress on the floor that she sleeps on and some nights she sleeps in her own room all night.
DS is 16 months and same deal with him - slept in his cradle, tried the transition to crib and didnt do so well so he starts off the night in his crib and sleeps in our bed from about midnight onwards. He does nap in his crib or his stroller.
It works for us- I EBF both kids long term so it was nice to just nurse them and go back to sleep.
To be honest I do sleep better when all four of us are in the same room - sad but true.
DH is on board with this too and we definitely get our alone time

Re: does *anyone* have kid(s) that sleep/slept in your bed?
DS started sleeping in our bed @ 2 m/o because it was the only way he and I could get any sleep. Now he's almost 2 and still there. We plan on evicting him to a toddler bed on his second bday.
I swore that DD would go in her crib from day one. She sleeps in an arms reach cosleeper, but around 6am comes into bed with us (yes, there are 4 of us...thank God we have a king bed lol). I guess I'm a gluten for punishment, but I value my sleep. At least DD is not as bad as DS...he literallywould not sleep anywhere else.
ETA: DH and I both agreed on the cosleeping and we really don't mind it...we like it. It's just getting a lil crowded.

Re: does *anyone* have kid(s) that sleep/slept in your bed?
ds is 14 months and up until a month and a half ago he rarely slept in our bed.. then he got sick and we kept him in our bed to monitor his fever for that week. its been an every night thing since then... he actually walks to our bedroom when hes ready to fall asleep...it has been so hard to bring him back in his crib. he literally makes himself throw up.. i find that complelty uneccessary but KNOW we have to transition him back to his crib b4 # 2 arrives.
any tips would be gladly appreciated!

Re: does *anyone* have kid(s) that sleep/slept in your bed?
Our daughter was joining us around 3-4am for a while. For the last month, she was joiining us earlier and earlier. Sometimes the entire night.
We just broke the habit about 1 week ago (fingers crossed). While I miss her snuggling with me, I think it's best for all of us that she sleep in her crib. Best for us as individuals and as a couple.

Re: does *anyone* have kid(s) that sleep/slept in your bed?
Last night was rough...DD did not want to sleep at all..she must be teething or something! Every time I put her down in the crib she would cry....so after getting up sooo many times in the middle of the night I put her in our bed and she fell asleep RIGHT away..I just don't want to get her used to it!

We cosleep my DD is 2 and we recently moved her mattress into our room and will put her in there but she often times ends up back in our bed. We also have a 2 mo old. Once the new baby came it is a little cramped in our bed so I don't mind my older DD in her own bed!

Johnny has slept in our bed ONCE and it was when he was sick.
It is something I will never budge on. My DH and I need our own space, the kids have theirs. The whole day is about them and their needs, when night comes my bed is MINE! Lol.

Re: does *anyone* have kid(s) that sleep/slept in your bed?
We co-slept with Athan till he was a little over two years old. And yes it was by choice and no I wouldn't change a thing about it. Loved having him with us at night, waking up next to him, and everything in between. And it didn't impact him transitioning into his big full sized bed either. Now I find myself sneaking in there to cuddle and sleep with him

Re: does *anyone* have kid(s) that sleep/slept in your bed?
I did for the first 2 1/2 months... I was BF'ing and one time I fell asleep while DS was nursing and when I woke up 5 hours later all rested and refreshed, it was a new thing. But when my back was getting really sore from not moving an inch all night, it was time for the crib. Now DS is 3 and potty trained so he wakes up in the middle of the night once and has to "go" and asks for 5 minutes in bed with me, I let him but only for 5 mintues then he goes right back into his bed.

Same. I need my space and I'm a restless sleeper. When he was a newborn and up all flippin' night I've wanted to try it but was afraid I'd crush him! By now I don't think DS would like it. I think he likes his space and he tends to be a little restless!

Re: does *anyone* have kid(s) that sleep/slept in your bed?
Yes they used to sleep in our bed to keep peace. DS#1 would wake up 3-4 times a night when he was realize he was in his crib. With bot DH and I working we just let him sleep with us after a while. It was the only way we could get a decent night sleep.
With DS#2 we didn't have as much trouble with him sleeping in our bed. We nipped it in the bud pretty early. The only time he would cry in his crib is if saw his brother was not in his bed.
NOw we have no issues with them sleeping in their room. It wasn't ideal, but at the time it was about survival. I firmly believe as parents we need to do what works for the everyone.

Re: does *anyone* have kid(s) that sleep/slept in your bed?
DD#1 never slept in our bed. She was in her crib from the 2nd day home from the hospital. She would occasionally sleep on my bed when she was a newborn for naps, but at night she was always in her crib.
DD#2 does sleep in our bed quite a lot. She always starts out in her own crib, but if she wakes up in the middle of the night we bring her into bed. Sometimes we can transition her back but not always. We want to CIO but with the 2 girls sharing a room and Kaydyn being a lite sleeper we haven't let her cry more than 10 mins or so and Kaydyn is usually up when we go in there. I don't want to ruin Kaydyn's sleep by letting Ainsley cry right next to her so we bring Ainsley into our room.

Re: does *anyone* have kid(s) that sleep/slept in your bed?
we let DS sleep with us in bed around 2 yrs old when he tried to climb out of his crib.
WORSE MISTAKE EVER.
he now needs to be with one of us in order to fall asleep and if he wakes up in the middle of the night.
DH and I have not slept a full night in our bed alone for 6 months and I hate it.
It's not about . It's about the alone time at the end of the night to unwind and be childfree,
It's about a simple snuggle with just DH in the middle of the night.
It's about not having the constant dread of what time is he going to wake up in the middle of the night looking for me.
it's the inability to self-soothe so you can't get a babysitter to put him down to go out on date night. one of us always has to be home to put him down.
yes, I love the snuggling and seeing his sweet face, but for me, the cons completely outweight the pros.
It has taken a huge toll on me & DH.
HATE IT. HATE IT. HATE IT.

Yes DD is 3 and we still cosleep. Eventually we plan on putting her in her own room but honestly...for the most part I love it. I love her cuddling with me and waking up next to me in the morning Eventually we will transition her into her own room and her own bed.

Noah has never slept in our bed, but Immi does. She often wakes at around 5.30 am and comes into bed with us, she will usually sleep until 7.30 am...so its an extra two hours of sleep.
I don't know any college ages kids who do this, so I guess the habit is broken with most people eventually!

Nope. I like my space and DS likes his. If he's not feeling well, then, I bring him in, but, sometimes, even then he asks to go back to his room. DD is in her crib as well.
Both kids went from bassinet to crib.

Re: does *anyone* have kid(s) that sleep/slept in your bed?
DD slept in my bed almost every single day of her life from whatever time she woke up until whatever time I wanted to wake up - 3, 4 5 am until 6 or 7. I have very little fight in me at that hour so I often would just bring her to my bed rather than convincing her to sleep in her own bed.
Until I had DS. Now she *never* wants to be in my bed.
Good thing too, because DS is now in my bed from whatever time he wakes up until whatever time I want to wake up.
It works for us.

Re: does *anyone* have kid(s) that sleep/slept in your bed?
Yes All 3 of my children have slept in our bed at a point in their little lives. DS# 1 started coming into our room every night when he was about 18 months old. It was just easier to let him stay rather than begin the back and forth all night long. DS# 2 was born when DS# 1 was 20 months old, so we put the baby in the crib in their bedroom (shared) and DS# 1 continued to sleep with us. He would always start out in his own bed and end up in ours. DS# 2 started doing the same thing around the same age (which is when DS# 1 stopped waking and coming into our room, all on his own, we did not have to prod him out). Then HE stopped right around the time that DD started coming in
She is now 3, and STILL comes into our bed each and every night. I know (from experience) that she too eventually will stop.
I LOVE it I know that "some day" they will be too grown up for it.
Its never been an issue for us, they always start in their own beds. And no, we have no plans to force her out.

Yes I do Lara has been in the bed with us for almost a year As much as I love her in the bed I wished she would have been in her crib by now. My dh has no problem with her sleeping with us. I tried cio a few times and Lara got so upset i gave up At this point i feel like she will be in the bed with us FOREVER

Re: does *anyone* have kid(s) that sleep/slept in your bed?
My son did for a while on and off. Now that he is 14 months he is in his own crib and sleeps much better. Even when I bring him in my bed to nurse in the middle of the night I always return him to his crib bc we all sleep better that way! If my son loved our bed and slept great in it I wouldn't mind but he gets too restless in my bed

Re: does *anyone* have kid(s) that sleep/slept in your bed?
I have rarely taken dd into bed. I will only do it in the morning to nurse her if I am exhausted. We snuggle and she will sleep a little longer. I have also done it if her reflux is really bad, or if DH is working midnights. He would crush her in his sleep. We don't do it often so I am not worried. She likes her space. It is more part of our morning routine during the days DH is working.

Re: does *anyone* have kid(s) that sleep/slept in your bed?
Very rarely-it is just not right for us.
When DD is sick, just will sometimes sleep with us.
When we have a groups of OOT guests and give one her bed, she sleeps in our room and usually ends up in our bed.
I love snuggling with her, but IMO she needs to sleep in her own bed.
DS is only a year and has never slept in our bed. It would make me too nervous/anxious and we would get no sleep.
