Re: Does anyone here still support Bush?

nope- this pretty much turned out exactly like I thought
still shocked he got "re-elected"
(used in quotes b/c I never thought he got elected in the first place)
this was going to be my point - he didn't actually win the presidency to begin with.
and no, i never voted for him.
i don't mind name calling in this instance - i think he is a MORON

Re: Does anyone here still support Bush?
Depends on what you mean by support? I wouldnt say I do or dont Im kind of middle ground..but my view is that we never partcularly like the president we have in office any way...Ive disliked each and everyone of them. Some Ive voted for and others I havent...

Re: Does anyone here still support Bush?
I think an orangutan in the White House would be a step up from Bush. Orangutans are supposed to be quite bright you know.
I literally cried when he stole the election the first time around and I cried again when he got reelected, so needless to say, no, I would not vote for him for a 3rd term.

I did and would do it again.
Same here!
I voted for him, but I don't agree with a lot of the decisions he has made. I don't think I could vote for him again.

Re: Does anyone here still support Bush?
I actually cried when he got re-elected, because I COULD NOT BELIEVE people would be stupid enough to reelect such an irresponsible, selfish human being to run our country.
Just one more reason (though one of the best) why I registered as a Democrat when I was 18, and will affiliate with this party until the day I die.

I will quote my favorite bumper sticker, since it sums up my thoughts over the last 7 years quite eloquently:
"If you're not outraged, you haven't been paying attention."

I don't support him. This war is a disaster, and the economy's in the crapper. IMO, he's responsible for both, but he and his rich friends are doing fine.

He is responsible for a lot of the deregulation in the mortgage industry.

well- there were some deregulation of banking practices that when on after 9/11
hence the sub-prime boom and bust- it was alot of smoke and mirrors to try to fix any recession after 9/11 - I did a quick seach and found an article....
The Federal Reserve gets 4.5 fingers because, said Eavis, it had the power to stop the risky business of subprime lending sooner, but actually encouraged the use of riskier loans as financially savvy.
Eavis specifically blames former Fed chair Alan Greenspan for keeping interest rates too low for too long. Low rates helped spawn the housing boom.
"Those rate decisions showed that Greenspan had chosen to use the housing market as his main instrument to prop up the economy after the 9/11 attacks. Using monetary policy to encourage a rise in home prices would be a highly unorthodox move for a central bank. But evidence suggests that Greenspan was overly keen to use housing for exactly that," Eavis writes.
Recounting how Greenspan encouraged the use of adjustable rate mortgages (ARMs), he writes, "Greenspan gave a speech that blessed the creation of new loan products, including subprime home loans."

For all the people that claim they would never vote for Bush and that he is useless:
Do you really think we would have been better off with John freakin' Kerry? LOL
And don't say "well he couldn't be much worse"... because honestly it could ALWAYS be worse.
I have no idea if we would have been "better off", there is no way to make that assumption

I just posted the same thing
I found a few articles- I quoted one
there was no sub-prime mortgage industry pre 9/11
they basically thru away all the laws about loans, who can get one, etc

ok - well... 1st of all, interest rates are not only about mortgages. they also apply to bank accts, credit cards, auto loans, etc.
2nd - Alan Greenspan was appointed by Reagan. he served under Reagan, Bush 1, Clinton and GW.
I'm no fan of GW Bush, but I don't like when ppl blame him for everything - like it was his personal fault.
