Here is my issue with him.........
THE WAR..........
We've spent BILLIONS of dollars on a war that at this point is useless. These people do not want OUR help, never wanted it so why is Georgie spending billions of dollars there when he should be spending it ON HIS OWN PEOPLE!!!!!
This is not entirely true. Speaking as the wife of a man who was there for MONTHS, many people do want us there. I have pictures of him with children, families, etc where they were very happy that he and his fellow Marines were there.
As far as those of us who support him not giving you enough support for why we do is concerned, here you go:
On Friday, September 14, 2001, President Bush visited Ground Zero. Standing on a crushed and burned fire engine atop the smoldering pile at Ground Zero, he put his arm around a retired firefighter who had volunteered to help, and began speaking to the crowd. Rescue workers shouted that they could not hear him. Someone handed him a small American flag and bullhorn. The President spontaneously shouted: "I can hear you. The rest of the world hears you. And the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon." The crowd roared with cheers and chants of "USA! USA! USA!"
Signed two income tax cuts, one of which was the largest dollar-value tax cut in world history
Increased funding for the Troops-to-Teachers program, which recruits former military personnel to to become teachers.
Saddam Hussein is now in prison. His two murderous sons are dead. All but a handful of the regime's senior members were killed or captured

Ditto! I never voted for that S.O.B. and I can't wait until he is out of office! DH is a lover and right now, it's not an easy house to live in!

Ok, so he went to Ground Zero (what a photo op! and I'm sure just about anybody standing in his place could have easily rallied the WTC workers and victims to cheers) and authorized two income tax cuts (well thought out, I'm sure - a lot of good they are doing for the economy now!).
I don't mean to be picky, but Saddam Hussein was actually executed. Although by an Iraqi court, that was very convenient to Bush's interests both personally (monetarily) and politically.
In the 8 (god help us) years that he's been in office, that is all you can come up with??!!!

Re: Does anyone here still support Bush?
i agree the picture is a bit much
i did vote for him the first time, i didn't vote at all the second time i didn't like my choices
and as far as the war goes i believe all presidential candidates have said they will not immediately bring troops home it's impossible to do

there is plenty more actually and I will find the website and allow you to read it for yourself. However, you hve already made up your mind so is there really a point to that. We have different views I will leave it at that.
And the Hitler reference is EXTREMELY OFFENSIVE whether or not you like the president. That is the biggest stretch of the imagination I have ever seen and is sickening.

Re: Does anyone here still support Bush?
As a daughter of a republican (albeit a "liberal" as my dad called me) and very inexperienced 22 year old, I voted for Bush the first time because Gore just wasn't strong enough for me not to.
PLUS, immediately after 9/11 I think we were ALL happy with Bush and how he dealt with things (I mean the cowboy emotion mirrored all of our own for a bit)
BUT, in 2003/2004, I did ALL my research and really didn't think Bush was the right choice for many reasons foreign policy even outside the war (family relations with the SAUDIS and oil companies), taxes, trying desperately to avoid a recession in 2001 that I truly created the situation we are in now, and even the way he speaks annoys me (IMO) Kerry was not the most glamorous choice, but I felt 100 % the better choice...I was so upset when he lost.
I just pray that thewoman, the african american man, OR the 100 year old white guy brings us out of this no matter what the "handicap".
We, as a developed country are disrespected, our dollar is the weakest ever, and I just feel that the USA is a joke to others and that makes me sad. Our liberties and justices are being overlooked...and again, I want to overcome this and be a strong nation again.
