Does insurance cover:
a nutritionist? Just wondering because I feel like I need help. I keep losing and regaining the same 40 pounds on Weight Watchers... I need someone to help me make real and lasting changes to my diet and health....
I think I would like to see a nutritionist or dietician, because what I try to do on my own does work or doesn't work for the long term. . . . .
I have Empire/United Healthcare insurance specifically, if that helps... or i would just be interseted in other people's experience going to a professional... was insurance accepted? if not, how much did it cost?
TIA!

Ha! I just suggested this in your other thread! I'm wondering the same thing though- cause I'd like to see one as well- I have issues with the yo-yo dieting/weight too...

Re: Does insurance cover:
A lot of insurance companies do since they consider it preventive for later disease. I don't have Empire, but I know that my insurance company covers nutritionists and offers gym subsidies as well. Definitely call them and find out if they'll cover it!

Re: Does insurance cover:
UHC/Empire doesn't....Unless its medically determined by a doctor for certain reasons.

Re: Does insurance cover:
Some insurance companies will let you see a nutritionist at a reduced rate, NOT the copay rate. However if you have a medical condition than I believe it is covered

Re: Does insurance cover:
I went to a nutritionist a few times this year and it was covered under my insurance (Oxford). She was very informative and helped me to be more aware of reading labels and making healthier choices. I would def rec that everyone go see one.

It depends on your company & your coverage.

Re: Does insurance cover:
I used to work for one and most will not cover it unless it is for diabetes or some other diagnosis. Going to simply work on your weight and diet are normally not covered.
